According to Wikipedia Honda introduced the Legend in Japan October 22, 1986, their first

luxury model, and North America for 1987 model year as the top of the line for its then-new

Acura lineup. The Legend was the first Honda vehicle to offer a V6 engine. The

Sterling brand in the United States and competed with the Legend.
