Great history, great car! If you're buying this car it's not for how fast it is. I bought this car because it looks beautiful. The drive is fantastic!The S4 is the last version of this spider and it's the perfect combination of classic car charm with touches of modernness.
I purchased this car from an American Airlines Pilot in Portland, Oregon in 2008. It was originally a California driven car and has been back in California since 2008 at Travis Air Force Base. I acquired the vehicle with 94,082 miles. I drove it only 13,413 miles in 9 years in the Napa Valley area.
It has been garaged, but it could use a new convertible top that can resist rainy weather when outdoors and upholstery since it is old and cracked. A few weeks ago a heavy weight lady took a picture with the car and made a small dent on the hood. Nothing serious, it is an easy fix. Aside from the normal wear and tear, the Tachometer is inoperative (as with many Spiders of the time) and driver's side window motor needs to be replaced. It did not pass the SMOG check several times, so I had the Catalytic Converter replaced. Since Florida does not require SMOG checks, it has not been tested again. Something to think about if you live in SMOG check states. A new paint job would not be a bad idea since it has not had one since it was built. I would highly recommend taking a look at the car in person, if you have never owned an Alfa Romeo Spider. If you have had these cars before, you know what to expect. Ask for any specific pictures.Nontheless, this is a car you will fall in love with. On a sunny day with the top down, it is better than any 911 or other convertible cars triple in price. If you are thinking of getting one, don't hesitate.....just don't get it if you can't maintain it!
