Offered for auction is a beautiful example of a 1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider designed by Touring. This is an extremely rare car especially in this condition. A car in similar condition fetched just a bit over $130,000.00 at R&M auction here in Scottsdale last year. This car went through an almost 7 years restoration, with lots of money and love invested into the work.
Unfortunately the car didn't get to be driven much during these years. I would estimate the total amount of mileage since restoration to be 30-50, which is mainly the reason why we decided to part with this beautiful piece of Italian Auto history.
Please read the entire description below before asking questions or bidding. A clear title is in my name, notarized ready to be transferred to the new owner. The mileage on the title reads "000000" (box C).
Exterior
The pictures of this car simply don't do it justice. The dark Alfa Romeo red paint job is absolutely beautiful. Every piece of chrome has being removed and professionally re-chromed including door handles headlight rings both bumpers, windshield trim, license plate assembly, and both tail light assemblies. All light lenses, front and back, are brand new. The new windshield is NOS, including all of its mounting hardware. The tires are made by NOS (New Old Stock) Michelin 400s (which are correct for this vehicle), with all wheels professionally powder coated, and all brand new chromed hubcaps. Windshield rubber seals, headlight rubbers, tail light rubber seals are all brand new.
This car has spent the last 25 years of its life in Arizona, while I had it, she has always been garage kept never seen any rain or water. The body is extremely solid and very straight. I included photos of the undercarriage, they speak for themselves.
Engine
The engine compartment of the car is simply breathtaking. The triple Solex carburetors have been recently serviced. The headers have been professionally Jet-Hot Coated, which besides the beautiful look, also serves as a heat channel keeping the engine compartment approximately 30 degrees cooler. The radiator has been professionally flushed painted and reinstalled. The aluminum valve cover has been polished to give the engine bay its wonderful shine.
All major metal components of the engine have been professionally powder coated including the air box, the brake booster air tank, as well as the brake booster box itself. The brake booster has being rebuilt six months ago. The car starts up for the first time and idles great. Both front brakes have been converted to ATE disc brakes by the previous owner, as you can see on the pictures.
During the restoration we had a completely custom made wiring harness with correct factory colors installed in the car. A 36 x 48 inch wiring diagram that illustrates all the circuits will be included in the sale.
Interior
The entire interior has been professionally redone including custom door panels, all new seats, Alfa Romeo reproduction carpet set, and NOS vinyl floor mats. The back seats and the rear drape have also being custom made for this car. All of the control buttons, including headlight switch, wiper switch, etc. are brand new. All of the instruments are European editions, showing the speed in kilometer per hour and the temperature in Celsius.
Both driver and passenger seats are flawless with beautiful shiny black vinyl. Both seats slide and tilt correctly, allowing the rear passengers to access the back seat with ease. The area of the dashboard where the optional stereo equipment would be installed have been blanked out. The car comes with two Lucas ignition keys.
Additional information
Couple of comments about this beautiful Alfa Romeo: it does not have a convertible top frame, although I do have a soft top still in the box which I will provide to the buyer. The reason we did not purchase a soft top frame was that we intended to use the car with four passengers. Installing the top frame (which folds behind the back drape) makes it very difficult for the rear passengers to enjoy the ride. Also, we did not installing heater blower as it is not needed here in Arizona.
Please remember that this is a 55 year old car, so there might be little things here and there that will been attention over time. The minor corks that I know include:The DS inside door opener doesn't always work.I have not been able to test the speedometer or the temperature gauges - but will do so this week.
I understand that not having the top can make the transportation of the car a little difficult, therefore I WILL PAY FOR AN ENCLOSED CARRIER TO DELIVER THE CAR TO YOUR HOUSE ANYWHERE WITHIN THE LOWER 48 STATES.
