Please note that the car was washed prior to the pictures being taken, so any spots underneath the car are water spots.
I purchased this Alfa from a fellow Alfa enthusiast approximately 2 years ago. He had purchased the Alfa from a local member of his Alfa Chapter approximately 20 years ago. It was originally from California. It was always garaged and used on the nicest days. He was an active member of the local club. He was not mechanically inclined, so any work that was needed was done at the local shop. Prior to my purchase in 2015 he had the transmission rebuilt including new complete clutch assy, flywheel resurfaced, rear main seal, trans seal. etc...the total spent for the repair was $1800.00. A year earlier, the Alfa was in the shop for a headgasket repair. This work included: exhaust valves replaced, valve shims, etc...this repair was $2200.00. Unfortunately the headgasket job was not done correctly and the headgasket began leaking quite a bit prior to my purchase. The second headgasket failure was the impetus for making the decision to sell the Alfa.
Mechanical condition: Upon purchasing the Alfa, I replaced the headgasket and discovered that there were no "O" rings installed which caused the leaking. Cooling system was completely flushed. I had the Spica Injection professionally set up at the local Alfa Shop. It is completely dialed in now, and is the most reliable, easy starting Spica injected car that I have ever owned - I have been driving Spica injected carsfor over 40 years.
I used as a daily driver for the first summer, and it runs absolutely fantastic. The engine runs strong and pulls like a freight train. Running 80 mph you can put your foot into it and you will be at 100 mph + easily. The Alfa is very predicable at this rate of speed. Has "Red" Springs which are just right - not too stiff and not too soft. Suspension is tight with no noises or issues. Other work that was done included new Clutch Master Cylinder and new Slave Cylinder and hose. No evidence of oil burning. Transmission works fine including 2nd gear syncros. Starter and charging system are fine with no issues. Since the Alfa was originally an Air Conditioned car, the battery was relocated to the trunk. It is fitted with an oil pan guard. Exhaust is in good condition and is fitted with a nice sounding "Ansa" twin tipped exhaust for the Classic look. The engine compartment shows a set of non original air filters which are from another one of my Alfa's. The correct Spica Air Box will be installed prior to the sale. Also, the air horns are not working properly and will be replaced with correct Alfa horns.
Interior Condition: The interior is in good original condition as shown in the pictures. The seats have a few places that have been taped up. Door panels are in fair condition. Has all original mats and a nice set of Alfa Logo floor mats. All gauges are in working condition. Headlight switch uses a separate toggle switch to turn on parking lamps. A period correct AM FM radio was installed, which sounds good and looks right. Shift boot is torn. As noted, the car was originally equipped with Air Conditioning, so it still retains the original look at the bottom of the dash. Heat works fine including the fan.
Body Condition: Being that the Alfa was originally from California, I would refer to this as a survivor example. The Alfa has all of the original rocker panels, floor pans etc...No evidence of accident damage with excellent panel fit. I my opinion, Silver is one of the best colors for a Spider. As noted in the pictures, the Spider is fitted with "Plexi" headlight covers which really enhances the lines of the beautiful PininFarina design. The California sun was not kind to the silver paint, and essentially the top portion of the car the paint is flat. There is a spot on the hood where the paint flaked off, and that spot was touched up. There is rust on the lower front fenders and also behind the rear wheels. Underneath there is some rust in the foot well at the drain plugs which is a common area. Everything mentioned, is what occurred over the life of the car. Grill is in good condition as well as the protector bar. Front bumpers are in nice condition. Rear bumper has a ding as shown in the pictures. Since the Alfa was only used on nice days, the convertible top was always in the "down" position. At some point, the top was raised and 2 of the bow hinges broke. The top still goes up and down, but requires some finessing with the bows. The top is in poor condition, however it is serviceable and will keep the car dry. This was not an issue, since it's only driven on sunny days.
With Duetto prices on the rise, the Chrome bumper Spider is the next Alfa to really see values climb. This Spider is a great example that can be driven daily. It is mostly original down to the OEM Wheels and original style side view mirrors. Many consider the Series 2 Spiders the best of the bunch. I am reluctantly selling this Spider, however I currently have several other Spiders and I have a Duetto that is waiting to be restored.
Lastly, please ask any questions prior to bidding.

Please note that in some of the pictures the Alfa is shown with Alloy wheels, those wheels were from my Giulia Super. Also, those pictures show the Alfa before the replacement "Plexi Covers" were installed. The Alfa will be sold with the OEM steel wheels that are shown in some of the pictures and the headlight covers.
