Description

This is a great vintage 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate convertible up for sale. This is barn fresh and will need some light restoration to be mint again. After topping up all fluids and fresh gas, this car just tackled a 150 mile trip up and down some fun and twisty mountainous roads with no problems. The car runs strong and shifts through all gears well. Temp and oil pressure stayed steady the whole trip. Clutch feels good. Suspension feels solid. It has newer exhaust, new windshield and whole brake system was recently redone with new lines, rotors and pads. Nice set of matched Falken Sincera Touring 185/70 14 all-season tires. The top works fine and does not leak. (sorry, it was raining the day I took the pics, not a good top down day.) All that said, the car does need a bunch of knick-knack little work to be mint. Offering it up as a running and driving project car as it is. When warmer weather arrives, I will be getting into the small repairs and obviously price will go up then. So in a nutshell, here is the list of needs from what I know and what I found out from driving it:
-There is a connection issue somewhere between the ignition and the starter solenoid, solenoid needs to be jumped to start.
-Crank seal leaks.
-Shifts fine when shifting gently (does not like hard shifting).
-Have to hold the shifter while in reverse, otherwise it pops out of gear.
-Heat works, heater fan does not. Probably a wire somewhere.
-Both door handles do not work from the outside. Driver's side is broken off on the outside.
-Signals are intermittent on one side.
-Has a couple of bulbs out.
-Some average rust issues on door bottoms/rockers/floor pans.
-Paint is showing age in spots. Mostly the nose and the hood. Might be able to buff some of it out but the hood has some paint chips that have rusted. Will need some paint work there.
-Driver's seat is ripped.
-Odometer stopped working about two years ago (but it has spent most of the last two years in a barn, so mileage is close to accurate.)
-Some trim items are off but have a box full of pieces that will go with the car as it sits or will be going back on soon when Spring arrives)
-Trunk and gas release handles are loose from where they mount in the door jamb but are both functional.
Off the top of my head, that is all I can think about for needs. To be clear, this is a project car and is sold as-is, as-seen. If you choose to drive this to it's next home, you do so at your own risk. No warranties expressed or implied. It is a great little Alfa though and is certainly worth the restoration work.
