Description

Manufactured in April of ‘75, this 2000 GTV was intended to be one of the last cars delivered to the US market. Instead, thanks to currency fluctuations and Alfa’s perennial lack of cash, it was sold new in the European market to the wife of a Dutch industrialist, remaining in her possession until 2006. From there it was off to Van Lingen, an Alfa dealer and parts specialist, and then purchased by a German collector in 2012. Last year, the current owner finally completed the car’s original intended journey, and imported it to the US.

An original “Rosso Alfa” example, this GTV retains all its desirable options, including rare factory air conditioning (fully functional) and Campagnolo “Turbina” wheels. The black vinyl interior is largely original and in excellent condition, with a flawless dash, beautiful Jaeger instruments, and a radio/cassette player. Upholstery is in great shape on all four seats, including a recently replaced driver’s seat bottom, and complemented by a tight headliner and immaculate carpets.

Thanks to years of careful ownership and regular Tectyl rust-proofing, this GTV’s body is solid and straight, featuring excellent rockers, panel gaps, and floors. The paint retains a deep luster and shows little wear, though there are a few areas that have been re-touched over the years. All trim is intact and correct, and the aforementioned Turbina wheels are very presentable with only minor blemishes.

This June the car received a comprehensive service at Alfa Auto Clinic on Long Island, including SPICA tuning, new tires, and fresh shocks. It’s a fantastic drive with a flawless gearbox, strong brakes, and precise steering. The engine revs very smoothly and achieved consistent compression between 135-145 psi during a recent test. A mildly upgraded exhaust makes gorgeous noises out back, though for the purist the original parts are also included in the sale. Currently, the odometer reads 42,207 kilometers, though as a five-digit display it may have exceeded its mechanical limits. Available immediately on a California title.
