1978 AMC Pacer Factory V8 Wagon Project NOS Parts RACE Car GASSER BARN FIND RARE
Description
This sale is for a rare AMC Pacer V8 wagon and could be your next winter project. Selling at $1.00 and no reserve.
It has had a lot of work done but has been sitting for several years and hasn't been started. Engine turns fine I checked. Will need the proper wake up procedure to run again. Fuel, oil etc. inspection maybe more. Being the condition it is I will not put in a hot battery to see what it does or doesn't do. I do not want to cause engine damage for being careless. I know it ran. Reason is selling for my father and he has had cancer. He has collected many cars and this is one. He has decided to sell his collection. That Is where I come in.
What I know. It has a 304 and looks fresh. It is an original H code (H in the vin denotes 304 V8) First year for the V8 engine option and was discontinued less then a year later. Only a limited number of factory V8 cars were ever built both sedan and wagon and makes this rare indeed. The automatic trans was overhauled (rebuilt) My father had it done. The body and floors look nice. No carpet and as you can see no rust through. Verysolid car. No rust ever in the quarters which that alone is hard to find. There is rust on the inner part of the drivers door (pictured) and a spot on the firewall. I do not have a lift for underside shots. Car wasoriginallyfrom the state ofOregonwhere it has been well preserved.
Lots of extra trim as pictured and is from several cars. The previous owner had intended on installing power leather seats and installed one on the drivers side. I have the original black cloth seat and the leather mate. The windshield is cracked and there is another windshield in a parts car that you can have if you pull it out.
Also available for extra to the winner of the car is one of the only known nos Carl Green fiberglass wide body kits made specific for the V8 Pacer wagon. These were very limited production (some say less then 25 were made) and offered through select AMC dealers. My father paid $2250. 4 years ago for the wide body kit from a well known AMC author and historian. The person at the time had a black wide body V8 wagon (pictured in one of his books) that he later sold his for $15K
To sum it up it is a non running project car. Please expect the worst and hope for the best. To be mint it will require a complete restoration. It is a fantastic start.
