1971 AMC JAVELIN AMX RARE -4SPEED -GO PACK -TIC TOC TAC -P CODE -BROCHURE CAR!
Description
Thanks for looking at our 1971 AMC JAVELIN AMX. This beautiful AMX is finished in the correct and original to this car, B8 Mustard Yellow as seen on the front page of the 1971 AMC sales brochures back in the day.
For the numbers guys; AMC reports that 2054 Javelin AMX models were produced in 1971. Approximately 1025 cars, or half of the production run of Javelin AMX’s were equipped with the 360 engine. Some 360 powered cars were produced with the high horsepower 4BBL carbureted engine. Some of those 360 4BBL cars were produced with the Hurst 4 Speed Option. Could there have been more than a hundred cars produced with all of those options plus the Go Pack, with it’s Posi Rear End, 140 MPH Speedometer and rare Tic Toc Tac?
A few of these highly optioned factory hot rods were produced in Mustard Yellow with the Split Vinyl Top. That was 1971. In 2013 very few Javelin AMX's remain in the wild at all. This is one surviving example of AMC’s days of glory torn right from the pages of the brochure. No tribute car or wanna be, this is the real matching numbers deal.
All that hyperbole aside, we think this is one rare girl. AMC numbers are famously infamous so if we’ve abused anyone’s sense of AMC numerological history, we’re always up for a lesson. Let us know and we’ll correct our trespasses.
Surely a large number of AMX were lost to accidents or the crusher as these cars weren’t considered rare back when the roads were crowded with competitors like Mustang, Camaro, Chevelle, Cuda, Challenger, Roadrunner and all their kin.
Regardless of how you slice it, this is one of just a few cars ever built, it’s in excellent condition and you have the opportunity to be an owner.

Mechanical Reconditioning
The engine block lower end has been freshened. The heads have been rebuilt. All of the engine accessories like the radiator, water pump, power steering pump, starter, belts, hoses, plugs, points, fluids, etc are new or freshly rebuilt. Headers make there way to new flowmasters and a correct H pipe. She starts right up and sounds bad ass.
The interior has been completely redone and includes the correct black carpets and black vinyl turtle back seats. A rare center console and engine turned dash make this AMX feel like the street fighter it is.
The brakes have been completely gone through. A new booster, brakes lines and a full brake service were performed. A new parking brake cable was required and arrived yesterday.
All new shocks were added along with new rear leaf springs, bushings and shackles.
