Description

For sale is my absolutely pristine 1970 AMC AMX- this is an original collector quality numbers matching Californiacar. It was manufactured in September of 1969 and purchased from Davies Motors AMC in San Diego, CA by one of their AMC mechanics. I am the third owner having purchased the car over five years ago from the second owner in San Diego (who happened to be a friend of the original owner who held the car for thirtyyears). This AMX is better than new and in flawless condition from top to bottom. The car is painted in its original factory Bittersweet Orange metallic two stage paint and was first stripped to bare metal, inspected, and primed. The car has the factory 360 ci motor backed by a Borg Warner M 11-B and has a twin-grip limited slip differential (entire drive trainredone..see below). The AMX is also equipped with factory 10" power disc brakes, power steering and a recently serviced Thermo-King A/C unit which blows very cold.Under my ownership the car has seen an extensive restoration- The car was sent down to a shop in San Diego where it underwent restoration which includes the following:-Complete Motor rebuild (Pistons .030 over, Cam kit, lifters, rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearings, oil pump, timing chain etc.)Motor was then cleaned, bead blasted and painted in factory aqua metallic color.-Radiator is a 3 core unit, new overflow tank, new A/C compressor, hoses, condenser, electric condenser fan, reconditioned steering box/lines and power steering pump, new Holleycarburetor (original carburetor included), new balancer/ water pump, wires/coil, new alternator was installed along with a reconditioned starter and the entire engine bay was repainted to factory color as well.-Transmission removed and completely overhauled-Entire braking system was redone including the rear drums, shoes, cylinders, hoses, master cylinder, front discs, seals, bearings and dust caps... and Rear end completely resealed.-All front suspension redone (new bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link, shocks, driveshaft U joints, and idler bushings)Finally, the entire undercarriage was pressure washed and undercoated.-The interior is flawless and includes re-upholstered seats, new carpet, and a custom stereo system. Top dollar Retrosound II stereo made to look just like factory...4"kr2 mid and tweeter center channel with custom enclosure, Focal 6x9 speakers, 3' mid range speaker, Alpine 5 channel amplifier...-Detail work done including overhaul of instrument cluster, speedo repaired, clock reconditioned and converted to quartz, lights repaired...etc...
known flaws: fuel sender replaced but inaccurate, small split in one seam at driver bolster, split in plastic trim ring at the bottom of the passenger seat..that's it.
The car breathes through a 2-1/2" exhaust and sits on magnum 500 wheels with BFG white lettered radials- this car drives as good as it looks. Every little thing has been addressed...no expense spared. It does not leak, it sounds right, it handles tight, and has always put a smile on my face...pictures do not do it justice. Have paperwork and invoices in hand (over 30 k in restoration expenses) and the car holds a clean Californiatitle. It's as clean as they come, any questions just ask... no low ball offers please.
