Description

I purchased this car about 3 years ago, for a few reasons:
1) It was (is) in incredible condition. The paint job alone would probably cost $10-$12K, at least here on the west coast.
2) I had a 401 AMC V8 laying around and thought this car would be the perfect candidate to go drag racing.
3) It has only had 2 owner between the original owner and myself.
4) It’s a rust free car that has been in California it’s entire life.
Soon after acquiring this wonderful little car, I realized that it was just too nice to cut-up and turn into a drag car. Instead, I drove it to a few local car shows and we towed it behind our Winnebago and couple times as well. I have several other classic/special interest cars so this one pretty much just sits. I have only put about 500 miles on this car since I purchased it. That’s not good for a car. This car has only been driven about 4,000 in the past 20 years. It needs to be driven. See picture below for my hand written summary of the history. (I got this information from some receipts, which will be included with the sale.)
I need to make room for a couple more cars so this one has to go. And honestly, I am hoping that it goes to a new home where it will be driven and appreciated.
THE GOOD:
* It has all the original documents that would have been included in the glove box, including the original ”Owner Identification Card” which shows that the car was sold in Watsonville, California on 01/12/72. (On GM cars, these are called the Protect-O-Plate.)
* Exterior the body is rust free and perfect. And the paint is in near mint condition. There is one area on the wind deflector at the back of the car, that the paint flaked off. (See picture.)
* The interior is in near mint condition. The prior owner had it re-upholstered.
* The engine was rebuilt at 79348. The car now has 116,797. So the motor has less than 38K miles on it.
* The car had new shocks and brakes installed at all four corners, just before I purchased it.
* Tires have about 80% tread left. Wheels are a perfect fit and look for the car.
THE NOT-SO GOOD:
* I think the carburetor could use a tune due to sitting too much. It starts right up and idles, but it doesn’t seem to have the power that I think it should. I do drive it on the freeway and it keeps up with traffic… it just takes a while to get there. (Then again, it is a 258 CID in-line 6 cylinder!) :)
* After I picked it up from the shop that installed the front tow-bar kit and wire harness, the radio and interior lights don’t work. Might be just a fuse?? (They worked before..... I just haven’t made time to bring it back.)
* The car has factory AC, which doesn’t work.
* Car has a salvage title, but it certainly wasn’t from damage. Frame is rust free and straight as an arrow.
This car is adorable and gets lost of attention. If your goal is to blend in… don’t buy this car. You can probably buy a 2009 Toyota Corolla with more power for about the same price! But if you want a car that brings smiles to yourself and others, buy this car. I get more thumbs up in this car, than any of my other more valuable and performance oriented cars. :)
I would be willing to include the tow bar package at no cost, if you intend to flat-tow. It makes a great dinghy car.
