FIFTY YEAR OWNERSHIP. THIS RARE ASTON MARTIN WAS TRADED TO US ON A VINTAGE JAGUAR BY MR FRED STOUT, MR STOUT PURCHASED THE ASTON IN 1966 SWAPPING A PORSCHE SPEEDSTER AND $400 FOR THE ASTON. FRED SAID THAT THE PORSCHE HAD AHABIT OF SPINNING ITSELF OUT. I MENTIONED THAT SINCE HE WAS DRIVING IT PERHAPS THAT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SPINNING. OVER THE YEARS FRED TWICE DROVE THE ASTON TO SEBRING TO WATCH THE 12 HOUR RACE. HIS WIFE AND HIM SLEEPING IN IT ONE TIME, NOT VERY COMFORTABLY, HENCE ONE TIME. FRED ALSO USED THE ASTONFOR TWO OR THREE YEARS IN THE LATE SEVENTIES TO TOW HIS FORMULA VEE RACECAR TO TRACKS IN THE MIDWEST.HE ALWAYS LOVED DRIVING THIS CAR BUT AT THE AGE OF 80 IT WAS BECOMING DIFFICULT FOR HIM TO MANAGE TO DO SO.
THE ASTON NOW HAS 71,013 ORIGINAL MILES. THE ORIGINAL COLOR WAS RED WITH A BONE INTERIOR. FRED HAD IT REPAINTED ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO IN THEGREENUSED BY THEFACTORY ASTON MARTIN RACING TEAM AT THE TIME THIS CAR WAS BUILT. THE CAR IS EXTREMELY SOLID. THE ENGINE, MATCHING NUMBER DBA 1062, WAS REBUILT SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND FRED ESTIMATED THAT IT MAY HAVE CLOCKED ABOUT 5,000 MILES SINCE. THE FRONT SHOCKS NOW NEED TO BE REBUILT.
THIS CAR WAS FEATURED IN THE ASTON MARTIN OWNER'S CLUB MAGAZINE, SPRING 2012 EDITION.
