Description

Every Austin Healey comes with a great story, because it is one of the most loved sport cars no matter the what make, model or year. Not the fastest, not the most expensive, but one of the most loved and classic designs.

I have owned this car for 35 years and am the second owner. The car spent most of it’s life in the San Francisco area.I was also president of the Austin Healey Club for Northern California.

The car has been restored and serviced by David Nock at British Car Specialist for the last 25 years.I was lucky to live only an hour plus to this shop, which is one of the best Healey restoration shops in the country.I have given this car care beyond all measure. No expense was ever sparred in making this car as about as perfect as they come, for one that is actually driven.

When you own a car for as long as I have owned this one, it goes through many stages and several restorations.I would say today, at this point in time, the car is as good as it ever has been over the time of my ownership. So, a very good time to sell. And, why am I selling it, 35 years is a long time and now on to other things in life. But, am in no hurry to sell it. But, I am not driving it very much, so time to let someone else experience the enjoyment that this car will bring.

I have every original receipt for work done since I bought the car. And, an Excel spread sheet for a high level view.I have put $175,000 into the car since I bought it.The high end range of these cars is about $130,000 give or take. And, many can be had for half that price. It is all about the condition of the one you are buying.

I don’t think you could find a part on this car that has not been replaced, rebuilt or upgraded. Some of the highlights start with the engine which was completely rebuilt just four years ago and has only been driven 4,000 miles since. The latest paint job was also just over four years ago for $32,000.That included a lot of new chrome, like bumpers, trim, new windshield, etc.The wheels are all brand new, 3,000 miles on them, and they are stainless, not chrome, which just break and can’t keep the wheel true.New tires were also bought at the same time and they came from Hendrix Wire Wheel who balanced and tuned them.

The interior is all leather and the carpets are 100% wool. Most Healey’s are vinyl and nylon. The top was custom made to get a tan matching color for the interior. 99% of all Healey’s have black vinyl tops.

Not knocking any other Healey, but it is the many little things that separates this car from most of the pack.

I had a new dash made a few years ago.Bought a piece of exotic wood and had a cabinet maker cut and finish the wood for such a wonderful look. The steering wheel has been replaced with a wood and stainless wheel to match the tan interior.

A few other things include an electric ignition, positive ground, new stainless muffler, sealed battery, Bilstein Shocks, new brakes all around.Has a luggage rack on the trunk, and the good one, which is drilled into the truck and the cross bars have been covered in teak slats to keep the tan look.

Those are just some of the highlights of this car and should give you a good feel why this one is so special and why the asking price is towards the higher end.I would have no problem driving the car across the United States today and not even have a worry that something might break. So, if you want an amazing driver and one with a very classic look with the white and tan and stainless wheels, then you might just have found the car.

There is so much more to tell about all the details of this car, but think I got the key ones above. If you have any questions or want to talk about the car, please feel free to contact me.
