Description

This 1961 Austin-Healey Sprite Mrk II is a very early production Sprite, factory production number 1016. It comes with "confidential" Donald Healey marketing material and original marketing photo. In addition there are two vintage parts catalogues Moss Motors catalogue from the 1970's and Mini Mania catalogue along with workshop manual.
From the factory the Mrk II Sprite had a similar 948cc motor as the Bugeye Sprite only the Mrk II was fitted with slightly larger 1 1/4 SU Carbs and a higher performance cam. These modifications increased the bhp from 43 to 50bhp. Both cars were fitted with four wheel drum brakes.
This beautiful example of an early Mrk II Sprite had additional modifications done to improve safety and performance.

These simple improvements made a remarkable difference in all aspects of handling.
Performance improvements were made by replacing original 948CC motor with the 1275CC which was the largest displacement Austin Healey Series A motor available. 948CC motor comes with car also.

The fit and finish of the car is good. Chrome is in excellent condition as are the Healey and Sprite badges/emblems. Door gaps are spot on, hood has a slight tight gap on passenger side, trunk gaps are fine. Rear fender arches have been modified as shown in photos flares are now present. The floors were repaired when the car was repainted by previous owner and now as best as I can tell the car is rust free. Windshield has no cracks or chips.
The car is finished in Iris blue over dark blue vinyl which is in fantastic shape. This Sprite Mk II is now offered with a clean California title in my name.
Original Austin Healey Sprite sales brochures and manual come with car. Original jack comes with car. Dark blue tonneau cover comes with car as does convertible bows, there is no soft top.
