Description
This 1964 Austin-Healey Sprite MK II is maroon over tan interior with many upgrades for reliability as technology improved. This is the three year model with original shaved handles (aka it has none) and is a great look for the car. The heavy lifting was done early – a rebuilt 1275 engine & transmission (non-synchronized) & differential (peppy) was done by Eric Jones (RIP) of Delaware, OH (donor: 1970 MG Midget). Oil pressure is 70+ psi. Approx. 15k miles on since rebuild. Prior show winner (class). Many Items have been done / upgrades / restored like:
Big stuff:: Engine (1275cc from 1970 MG Midget), Rebuilt Transmission (non-synchronized), Clutch (Regular & Slave), Differential, Weber 32/36 carb.
Exterior: New Paint, Mirrors, Carpeting, Windshield, Seals & Pillars (brushed out * look great), Rims (sanded & refinished), Front Bumper.
Interior: Wood Steering Wheel, Dashboard, Gauges (Speedo, Tach, & Volt), Seats, Panels, Wind Buffer (pictured), CD Radio (iPhone ready), XM Docking Station (XM not incl).
Electrical: Plugs, Wires, Starter, Coil, Distributor, Electronic Ignition (Pertronix), Battery, Negative Ground conversion, Alternator, Modern Fuses & Box, Various Electrical Relays, Halogen Front Headlamps, Voltmeter (on dash), OOGGAA Horn, etc.
Cooling: High Flow Radiator, Aluminum Water Pump (from Winner's Circle), Hoses, Oil Cooler,Suspension: Front Suspension Tube Shock Conversion, Rear Suspension Dampeners, Poly Bushings,Misc: Exhaust system (incl manifold), Bearings (x4), Brake Pads, Master Cylinder (single channel).
It has been in the family since the early 80’s and stored for ~ 20 years in a humidity-controlled storage unit in Florida (unused). I brought the car to my home in Cleveland, OH and it’s been garaged ever since. It’s undergone a rolling restoration from 2003 – 2015 of the above items. The Chassis ID = HAN-7L-36045 / Body ID = 028144 / Engine ID: 12C/Da-H-22863 (from 1970 MG Midget).
And some items you might not like:
- A few small chips in paint
- Rust bubble near jack hole (frankly, it was treated in paint prep and never has grown since (2006); although it should have been removed).
- Very minor fluid leak at engine / tranny. I haven’t seen an LBC that doesn’t have this regardless of restoration.
- It has a Bimini top / skeleton / original (non-restored) side-curtains (I didn’t want to spend the money on something I never wanted to use).
- Gas Gauge off (I’ve just used the odometer for 15 years w/o problem).
Every ‘system’ has been touched on this car and is it's very solid. We’ve taken the car for extensive trips out of state and she runs great. I’m selling as I have four cars and three spaces. This typically gets left behind due to family size. I have a few various parts that will be included (SU Carbs, Orig. Diff, Manuals, and whatever I can find). It has an Ohio title and in my name. I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot but that is in reference to items I’ve restored / replaced, etc and not listed. You can see the build costs is much greater than what I am asking. I built it for me and reliability. These pictures were all taken June 2019. I can take any pictures you’d like / answer questions. It’s a lot of fun! Thanks
