Description

Austin Healey Bugeye/Frogeye Sprite 1960, No reserve auction (this is relisted - the FRENCH winning bidder was not going to pay all the shipping cost as was clearly outlined in the auction and so canceled. SO... no international bidders this time, sorry.)

Project, 1/3 restored 1960 Austin Healey "bugeye / Frogeye" Sprite (little Healey) This Sprite comes with a freshly rebuilt 1098cc high compression engine with performance parts that is out of the car and will be sold as such. engine is on a separate pallet ( # 10CCDA-H 9041), so plan on that for when picking up, will also need wench. The original 948 cc was not good to rebuild, but will go with the car. We opted for the bigger 1098cc engine that has more HP and is still appropriate for the bugeye years. This car has new floor pans and rockers on and has been started to be stripped for body work and paint, car is complete, but of course more new parts will be need to complete the restoration along with some more body and patch repair.

New parts that come with the car are:

· New professionally rebuilt 1098 engine (have the old 948cc for parts and carbs etc.)

· New carpet kit (red)

· New soft top (black)

· New rockers on

· New floor pans set

· Radiator fixed –tested

· New springs

· New badges and many other new parts from Moss motors, etc.

The car will need a full restoration finished that was stated a few years ago, what you see is what you get, bring a trailer. Project roller, have all the parts that were taken off and new parts too. Front wind screen is original and good and have the side windows too. Have the original seat frames, but they need new pad and cover Kit. Also has the original soft top bar support and even an extra original full wheel spare. Average retail values for a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite (soon to be 60 years old!) are 25k and 45K high retail, so there is plenty of $ room for restoration. These models have gone way up in value and cars needing restoration are getting very hard to find….well lucky you, here is such a car with quite a bit done already and new bigger rebuilt engine and lots of new parts to boot. Why am I selling this very cool valuable car? Well, I am moving, and will also be selling my storage garage and I will not have the time to continue the restoration for many years, so it needs to go, that is why it's a No Reserve auction. This is truly one of the easiest classic cars to restore, as there is hardly anything to them. Basically a body shell and drive train... that's it.. oh and great fun to drive! The Sprite is at a good point to turn into a race/rally or hill climb car - or do fun vintage rally's. I have sold about ten over classic cars on eBay over the years and have a 100% rating, so bid with confidence. I don't play games or mislead, too old and honest to mess with BS.There is a whole big parts industry, clubs and blogs for these cars. Parts are plenty and cheap too. this car was a barn find I got several years ago and it sat for probably 20 plus years before that. Your winter project awaits with this no reserve auction with very low opening bid. FYI - I have at least 8K into it, so someone will get a heck of a deal. I Have a fair(need work) running1973 (chrome bumper) MGB-GT too if interested.

Good luck in bidding and feel free to contact or arrange to see the car. Buyer is responsible for pickup and shipping of car and engine. Only serious bidders with good long history please. I will not cancel bids or refund deposit this time around. If you want and can restore the car and have the money- then bid...If not... then don't, very simple. No international bidders or impulse bidders. Would consider trade or combination of trade of $ for good Jeep wrangler with very little rust, Jeep Commander, solid jeep Cherokee sport (1998-2004 -4.0 lt. not grand model), Dodge Nitro or 2002-2008 Dodge Ram 1500 with low miles for age and very little rust.
