Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this fairly complete, late, Austin Healey 3000 MK3 for restoration. This car was recently purchased from it’s British car enthusiast in Georgia who had plans to restore it, but documents show it lived here long term in Southern California in the late 1970’s. The seller started some careful light disassembly on the car in which all items were bagged and tagged, and some items have been purchased new. It’s a great car overall to restore back to it’s former glory. Original factory colors were the highly desirable and handsome British Racing Green with black trim. The bodywork on this car is quite decent overall with only some minimal rust showing on the lower front fenders, doglegs, and lower trunk lip. Door fit is very good. The underside shows some typical repairs needed to some outriggers and a new trunk floor, but the main floors look mostly decent and are the originals. The chassis is excellent and straight up front, showing no accidents. The lower chin and side light area sustained some light repairable damage while in storage, but besides that the shrouds look very good. Some parts have been carefully removed and bagged/boxed with the car. The seat backs are the only items we have noticed not present, because they were being purchased new… The original black interior trim has been removed and saved. The grille surround/upper lip is very nice. The car’s glass needs replacing, which is typical for a full restoration. The car’s gauges and switches look quite nice. It’s fitted with a period Halibrand wood/alloy steering wheel and a Motolita radio. There is a large assortment of some new parts including a new mild steel exhaust system, new rubber kit, etc.The car appears to retain it’s original driveline with correct 29K series BJ-8 engine, that turns nicely by hand. It may even run if the components are re-installed. It retains it’s VIN plate, body tag, engine tag, etc. I believe the car was probably produced in 1966, sold and titled here in the US in 1967.Overall, an excellent candidate for restoration, this 3000 MK3 BJ-8 is a desirable and popular Big Healey. It’s a late production Grand Tourer offering 150 bhp, walnut dashboard, power brakes, roll-up windows, comfortable interior, and is the best and last of the bunch. It’s a smart investment going forward. Please look at all pictures / video and call or email with any questions. We will assist in shipping worldwide.
