Description

This is car #25 on the Austin America registry. I am listing this as a NO RESERVE auction. Please do not bid without intention of paying.
Solid body, solid driver '68 Austin America, aka Morris/MG 1300. Previous owner in California rebuilt the engine and transmission, then it went to Arizona, Oklahoma and now Missouri. This is not at all your typical beat up, rusty/wrecked Bondo sculpture of a vintage car in Missouri. I have found zero signs of any filler on this car, anywhere. It was completely stripped, painted inside and out in its early days in California, and done so to standards most cars in that day did not get. Paint was prepped very well and quality of paint is high (it still shines and has not been detailed in any way). Decades later it does have a few dings, rock chips up front, and some blemishes, particularly on the top of the passenger front fender and driver side door, but it is still a nice looking, old car.
I did a some additional mechanical work about 4 years ago including a new carburetor, exhaust, belts, tune up (+electronic ignition), hoses, alternator, fuel, brakes, etc. It has not be driven very many miles since then, but has been driven somewhat regularly. Recently, it has had the front window seal replaced. It always starts and runs well, and has been incredibly reliable.
This AA will need a front end alignment and a new set of tires up front. It needed to be done when it was purchased years ago and the tires were replaced, but unfortunately nobody got around to it.
Included with the sale is a spare engine/transmission. I also have a large accumulation of America parts in my shed including another windshield, rear pop outs, door cards, a rust-free original paint door to replace the dented one on the driver side (which could also easily be repaired), several spare wheels, a couple bins of parts: cv/axle, heater cores, suspension bag, various engine parts, speedometer, lenses, trim, hubcaps, etc...all of which have been in dry storage for decades, and are included with the car. I also have an original repair manual.
Duplicate title once again says it is a '71, but I am certain it is an early '68 model. We have had this fixed in the past, but lost the title and had a duplicate sent that has the old discrepancy...this is not difficult to fix through the DMV upon transfer.
I am posting this vehicle for my father, so any questions can be directed to me. Thanks!
