Description

1950 Bentley Mark VI

1950 Bentley Mark VI in very good condition. No rust! This car was kept in storage for 20+ years until I bought it and invested considerable time and money (over $65,000.00) into getting it into fine running condition. The original odometer shows only 03708 miles.I cannot verify this is exact, but it is definitely possible, since the overall condition of the car is fantastic and there is no way this car’s odometer has been “turned over” passed 100,000 miles. The engine is original and has had the top end done.It runs GREAT!!!Black painted parts were newly powder-coated and aluminum and chrome pieces where polished.A brand-new custom flywheel has been installed as well as a new clutch. The entire brake system has been overhauled and is in excellent working order.New whitewall original spec tires installed all around.A brand-new after-market Air Conditioner has been installed which works perfectly, although can easily be removed if desired. The original under the dash mounted tool box as moved to the rear boot (trunk) to allow for the Air Conditioner control head, but it can be relocated if desired.

The beautiful 2 tone (Light and Dark Velvet Grey) paint is Original and in pretty good shape, maybe a 6 to 7 out of 10.I prefer original vehicles that haven’t been tampered with, so you know exactly what you are getting. There are no signs of any accidents or bodywork. This is an exceptionally straight and clean car!The sunroof does open and close, but needs some work to make it work smoothly. The entire underbody has been scraped clean and undercoated, so it looks brand new! There was only one small quarter size rust hole in the frame that was welded before undercoating was applied. It is actually amazing that there was no more rust anywhere on this car!

The interior is in really nice condition. The maroon leather seats are in perfect condition! The tan carpet is in excellent condition as well as is the headliner. The rear curtain works fine. The original burl wood dash shows appropriate age for as old as this car is, but still looks pretty good.

This car drives Great and it extremely reliable.Any additional work required is basically cosmetic.

Always stored in a garage.I am only selling this car because I am buying another classic car and don't have room in my garage for both of them.Car is located in Henderson, NV.

(from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) The Bentley Mark VI was the first post-war luxury car from Bentley. Produced from 1946 to 1952, it was also the first car from Rolls-Royce with factory coachwork but chassis were still also supplied to independent coachbuilders. The chassis and engine went on to be used as the basis of those in the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946 and Silver Dawn of 1949. The Mark VI used an F-head straight-6 engine 4.3 L (4257 cc/259 in³) in size. In 1951, a 4.6 L (4566 cc/278 in³) version of the engine was introduced. A four-speed synchromesh manual transmission was fitted with the change lever to the right of the driver on right hand drive cars and on the column on left hand drive versions. The 4.3 L was referred to as the 4¼ L with a single exhaust and the 4.6 L as the 4½ L with a twin exhaust. The chassis used leaf springs at the rear and independent coil springing at the front with a control on the steering wheel center to adjust the hardness of the rear springing. A central lubrication system allowing oil to be applied to moving parts of the suspension from a central reservoir was fitted. The 12.25 in (311 mm) drum brakes were assisted by the traditional Rolls-Royce mechanical servo. The factory bodies were made by Pressed Steel Ltd of Coventry and sent to the Bentley works at Crewe for painting and fitting out with traditional wood The Mark VI was introduced at a time of steel shortage across Europe which translated into a desperate shortage of new cars for sale on the UK market. A Used Car report in 1951 of a three-year-old example with 10,450 miles (16,815 kilometers) on the odometer noted that a car which had, when new, retailed for £4,038 including sales taxes, was now offered for sale at £5,335. This was seen as a comment on the quality of the car but also on the continuing shortage of cars for sale.
