1989 BMW E30 M3 Project Car

Description

Up for sale is a 1989 BMW E30 M3 Project car with a salvage title. Vehicle was issued a salvage title in Illinois back in March, 2001 according to the salvage certificate that came with the car. Vehicle has been stored in a garage for roughly 15 years since making it's way to California when it was purchased from an Illinois auto auction and has since transferred ownership twice. I acquired it 5 years ago with the intention of restoring the vehicle. I recently decided that it is not a project that I can do in the foreseeable future so it is time to let it go.
Vehicle has damage to the front left core support and surrounding sheet metal. The frame rails appear to be straight but I cannot guarantee. The right front bumper mounting bracket also shows damage and is bent upward slightly. More body damage can be seen at the left rear quarter panel/fender panel and left rear taillight mounting sheet metal/body panel is pushed in and creased. Front left lower control arm may be slightly bent as well. The right side of the vehicle is mostly straight with some smaller door dings and scratches. The roof is good and straight but has the incorrect antenna loosely installed. The undercarriage has suffered from some corrosion likely from winter driving in Illinois all those years ago. Many of the suspension parts have rust and corrosion (springs, sway-bars, control arms, trailing arms). Most rust spots on the body are isolated to the rocker panel seams. The under body floorboards show some surface rust in a few areas as well. A none matching hood and dented front left fender were mounted (hood is straight). Vehicle does not come with a front or rear bumper cover. The front windshield is cracked but all other glass appear in good shape.
The interior is in good condition with a crack free dash. Everything appears to be in good order with the exception of the drivers seat back being twisted. The original stereo is gone and after-market stereo wiring is present. The rear view mirror is popped out of it's holder but fixable. The cluster appears to work properly. Electric lift windows are also working.
I removed the oil pan to inspect the bottom end of the engine for any excessive bearing wear or any signs of trouble. I did not replace any parts as my intention was to make sure it was safe to run not race. After adding fresh fuel, subbing in injectors and installing a remote oil pressure gauge the engine came to life and ran quite well. A few hours later I was able to drive the car around, shift gears and accelerate normally in a limited area to verify that all mechanical's are at least usable.
I want to stress that this is a good project level car in need of a complete restoration. This M3 will need body work, mechanical work and some electrical harness repair. I have extensive experience with E30 M3's and, in my opinion, this is a restore-able example but understand that some may not agree. Please feel free to ask questions. Additional Info: We are including a set of four factory original wheels. Also, we forgot to mention that the vehicle dos not have a rear muffler but does have the OEM center section with catalytic converters.
