1972 BMW 3.0CS

Unmolested California car since new (Sacramento/San Francisco), all books and records, excellent drivetrain and mechanicals, solid body, and all original parts and accessories present. I purchased from 2nd owner in November 2007. Car has been in dry storage in Berkeley the last 4 years while I was in Europe. Just returned and selling due to divorce.

Starts easily, cruises smoothly, accelerates hard. Body paint faded but presentable with an older 1980s respray and solid rust free floors, trunk, jacking points, and minimal signs of rocker and surface rust. All chrome excellent (bumpers, trim, windows, interior, etc.). Leather presentable but some splits, headliner and dash excellent, wood finish fair, carpets good.

Options include factory fog lights, 1970s Nardi wood steering wheel, 1970s gray sheepskin seat covers, original BMW Blaupunkt New York stereo receiver (removed when new and boxed, installed a few years ago).

All original parts and accessories present: Original and spare key, Blue BMW sleeve with all manuals and documents (handbook, service, radio, warranty, etc.), Toolkit (broken latch but all parts present) and all tools, spare w/ jack, Zenith carbs w/ intake, filter and linkage, OEM steering wheel.

Full service history w/ detailed records including Bavarian Professionals, Moran Motorsport, and Autostatt European, back to 1984.

Rebuilt engine w/ 26k miles by Dave Kruse (Engine Specialties, Oakland, CA) in January 1992. Updated 1984 head, 285 grind cam, contoured and matched ports, dual downdraft weber carburetors ($4,424 receipt).

Rebuilt Transmission and Driveline w/ 27k miles by BMW San Leandro Auto Service in October 1991 ($3,368 receipt).

Rebuilt brakes w approximately 12k miles (new master cylinder, calipers split and honed, new brake lines, disks, pads and hardware) in December 2010.

Recent oil change, brake bleed and new battery. Not working: Air conditioning, 3 power windows (driver’s, two rear).
