1973 BMW 2002
After extensive restoration now fully ready for rally, street or concours. Zero miles since restoration.
This BMW 2002 has been restored and converted to an early Alpina widebody model. Also known as ‘Schweinebacken'. This car, based on a normal '02 has been fitted with new Schweinbacken. These have been professionally mounted, after that the car has been completely painted in Colorado orange.
Please note that this is not some rough built race/rally 2002 that was built only for going fast. This 02 was built by the specialist here, in house to a very high level of fit and finish. The body was fitted with the Schweinebacken and was painted completely, including doorjambs, enginebay and trunk. An everything-out european paintjob. Fenders, hood, doors all fit nicely with nice panel gaps.
Once painting was finished we have built this car up with lots of new and/or nice parts. New emblems, great chrome parts, new mirrors. Glass has been fitted with new rubbers. Zinc-plated doorlocks and new hardware all around.
The interior is mostly new and is actually usable. This car is not too hardcore for it being useless on the real world roads. No rattling, bone shaking car, but enjoyable and driveable. The car was fitted with new carpets, new Recaro S-look seats with matching reupholstered rear seat. The car has a Roll-bar but can be driven with passengers. It has a crack-free 2-piece dashboard, correct for this year. An Alpina style ‘Prototipo' steering wheel is mounted, brand new.
Wheels are 13 inch Multi-piece BBS wheels with brand new 205/60/13 tires. Suspension consists of genuine Alpina / Bilstein coilover suspension (very rare). It also features uprated sway-bars for flat cornering. All suspension parts and axles have been powdercoated and are fitted with brand new hardware and bushings. Lots of $$$ and hours have been invested. This car sits low, drives spectacularly good and corners flat, yet is isn't extremely hard.
Propulsion comes from a rebuilt 2,0L M10 engine. Fitted with a set of freshly rebuilt Solex 40DHLA carburators. It breaths through an original Alpina A2/A3 Airbox from the 70's. Ignition parts are all new with fresh cap, rotor, points, cables, coil and plugs. Carburators and igntion have been professionlly tuned: this car starts, idles and runs perfect. The engine has new oil, filter, all new coolant hoses, new battery, new fuel lines, new fuel filter. New oil for the transmission and differential as well.
The exhaust starts with Alpina style headers and ending with Ansa middle and end silencers. Braking system consists of uprated 2002 Turbo brakes with ventilated discs and bigger drumbrakes in the rear. All new brakehoses, brakelines, rebuilt calipers and new pads. Rebuilt Mastercylinder and new brakefluid.
As you can read we went the whole way. This car was built with lots hours and $$$ invested. This car looks amazing, sounds amazing and drives amazing. No rattling only go-fast car but a proper built and restored classic 2002. Restored, rebuilt, and tested. A beautiful, spot on paintjob with a great depth and shine and proper shutlines. Beautiful chrome, lights and trim. Technically overhauled with great car and many special parts.
Once in a lifetime.
