1971 BMW 1600-2, Riviera Blue.Matching engine numbers, 4 speed manual transmission, and air conditioning.
This BMW 1600-2 was originally purchased by a doctor in Tampa, FL.The last owner purchased the car in 1979 in Florida then move to North Carolina in 1991 and transferred the title at that time. The car was used as a daily driver for work until the early 2000’s when it was used less frequently.I have the clear North Carolina title (see photos).
Body:
The car has new paint in the original color – Riviera Blue. There are a few little dings, not visible with the camera.Floor pans are solid.Body trim is in good shape. One slat of the front grill is missing on the upper left side. Car has new tires and new/rebuilt brake calipers. New weatherstripping around doors, quarter windows, and trunk.Doors and trunk are a little snug because of the new weatherstripping, but seem to be getting better as it compresses.
Interior:
New seat upholstery, new carpet that matches factory original, new headliner. The original dashboard was refinished and shows nicely – it is not a dash topper.Original door and side panels are used.Windows, heater, controls and switches work. The horn is intermittent and scritchy - the last owner said that is how the horn always was.Car has the 1971 dealer installed Frigiking aftermarket air conditioning that works marginally at best (and that is being generous). Seat belts are original however, I would recommend installing new front seat belts. They work, but they are 47 years old. Dome light is not installed, missing small under side pad on passenger armrest, missing plastic insert on driver side door handle.
Drive Train:
The last owner had engine work done approximately 40,000 miles ago which included piston ring replacement.I am unable to state the condition of the engine since the car is not currently registered or insured, and has not been driven any significant distance recently. That being said, the engine starts up easily, runs (when adjusting the manual choke there will be a little smoke), and shifts through all the gears, however bid accordingly. The engine has a manual choke 34 ICH Weber carburetor that has just been rebuilt, new starter motor, new voltage regulator, new spark plugs, new fuel filter, new battery, new engine cooling fan, new fan belts, and a new remote starting solenoid to mitigate any hot starter motor issues.
Also included are some extra light bulbs and a pint of Riviera Blue paint. I also am including a new paint color sticker if you want to replace the original sticker that is located next to the VIN plate (see photos).
