1976 BMW 2002 4spd with rust and cheap wheels
Description
Short version:
With the clutch working properly this could be a ratty daily driver, also would be good candidate for a body conversion. To be nice you will need to replace not limited to both front fenders, bottoms of doors, portion of drivers side quarter panel and portions of the rockers. A plus is E21 brakes on all four corners. If still interested I have provided as much detail below as I can
Body:
Originally a Sahara color with badly aged black paint job
Front fenders are rusted through at front and rear edges and behind the turn signals.
Door bottoms are rusted through
Drivers quarter panel has rust through and poor quality repairs
Dent in roof the size of a fifty cent piece
Floors, there is rust by the bottom of the pedal box that I'd be afraid to dig at with a screw driver, the rest of the floors and rear shock mounts appear solid
Spare tire well is rusted through and patched with a nasty tar like material
Rockers are rusted through
Windshield is chipped
All window gaskets are dried and cracked
Divers side grill has piece broken out
Mirrors are cheap worthless garbage from the nineties
Front air dam is a very poorly install broken up mess
Rear bumper is off a 72 2002
Drivers side tail light is cracked
Firewall has two 2" holes on passenger side that are covered with a piece of license plate
Accessory driving lights are cheap ones I put on to see if I liked the look and have not been wired up
Wheels and tires:
Cheap cast ESM OO2R 15x7 12et
195/50/15 Kumo Ecsta
These where installed right before I bought it and are still like new
Fronts rub do to not enough offset
Interior:
Seats were recovered some time ago, fronts are torn and need new padding as you can feel the springs
Dash has a few small cracks
Door panels are worn and cut up
Headliner is in nice shape
Carpet is in OK shape
Console is just sitting lose and not fastened down
Only has ignition keys, will need to have door and trunk keys made
Heater works
Eletrical:
All gauges work
Wipers work
All exterior lights work
Powertrain and differential:
Engine is original, runs strong and smooth, no records or history
Has a Weber 32/36 carburetor, float bowl empties if sitting over night or longer and requires extended cranking to start
Cylinder compression is 1=144lbs, 2=142lbs, 3=134, 4=140
Usually takes multiple tries with ignition key to engage starter
E21 radiator
Stock 4spd transmission
Clutch sticks, it rarely disengages when pressing in the clutch pedal and requires blipping the throttle with pedal pressed to disengage it. New clutch master and slave have been installed with no improvement. I have not looked any farther into this
Differential is 3.91 open
Brakes:
E21 front calipers and vented rotors
E21 250mm rear drums
Sometimes the brake pedal does not return all the way. When it happens you will need to return the pedal with your foot or the brakes will start dragging. Does not effect stopping.
Suspension:
Ireland Engineering Stage One Coils front and rear, fronts have one coil removed
Yellow sway bars of unknown brand and spec
Shocks unknown
Mileage:
Odometer reads 95277, could be 195277 or 295277 actual miles
History:
I have owned it since October 2017 and drive it occasionally but would not consider it a possible daily driver until the clutch and brake pedal are fixed
