Description

1973 / 1975 BMW 2002 Turbo

This is a 3owner car. I bought this car in February 2016. The prior owner had the car in Miami for 31 years. The car has always been a Florida car until my purchase. The prior owner made all of the modifications you see and as listed below. The car has always been garaged and well maintained.

Milage: The odometer currently reads 51,4xx miles. I believe this amount to be true since the prior owner owned the car for 31 of its 43-year life and reported that he only drove the car 300-500 miles per year. I have put approximately 1,500 miles on it.

Engine: Rebuilt in the early 2010’s. Approximately 2000 miles since rebuild. Reported to produce 220 hp. Compression checked in March 2016 to be 145, 145, 145, & 145 for cylinders 1-4 respectively.

Head: M10 320 IS direct injection re-sleeved to accommodate upgraded injectors. New M3 ringed gasket, ARP head studs, Ireland Engineering 8:2 compression racing pistons

Intake Manifold: 320 Modified to accommodate 50mm Holly throttle body and turbo piping

Fuel System: Walbro 255 Pump, SS lines, custom fuel rail with return

ECU: Haltech with upgraded wiring harness, Wide Band Innovative Motorsports O2 sensor

Turbo: Comp Turbo T3 Billet with T3 48A/R 2.5”, Tial Wastegate V band inlet/outlet, Tial blow Off value custom built piping for the car

Transmission: Getrag 5 speed upgrade with Sachs Stage 3 racing clutch, lightened flywheel, and Metrics Mechanics short shift kit

Brakes: Front - Ireland Engineering BIG brake kit upgrade with 8 pistons. Cross drilled and vented rotors. Rear – Ireland Engineering calibers with cross drilled and vented rotors

Rear End – Upgraded 390 Diff with LSD

Cooling: Upgraded 3 core radiator

Ignition: Haltech Direct Fire Electronic ignition

Gauges: Additional gauges for A/F ratio, oil pressure, low fuel pressure, oil temp, and turbo boost

Suspension: Upgraded to 18mm adjustable sway bars in rear, 24mm sway bar up front, neoprene bushings, Bilstein sport suspension shocks, Ireland Engineering upper strut supports in front and rear

Battery relocated to rear with Power Key emergency switch / power cutoff.

Exterior: Turbo flares, painted in BMW factory color #121 Dolphin Blue, all trim powder coated in black, front and rear bumpers have been brought in close to the body

Wheels: 15” Panasport Lite

Tires: Kumho ECSTA PS31 205/50 R15 installed March 2016 and with approximately 1,500 miles on them

Interior: upgraded bucket seats, door panels, and rear seat. Original working and non-leaking sunroof.

Disclaimer: The car started life as a 1975 base model. In 1995, the prior owner switched the VIN to a 1973 model to work around Florida’s emission standards. This change was not done due to any damage to the car. I have a clean transferable title in South Carolina

The Pros: Great looks, unique styling, turbo-charged engine, strong and quick acceleration, mechanically sound and a blast to drive, no rust.

The Cons: The A/C isn’t complete since there isn't room for a compressor in the engine bay, no radio, the gauges work but not perfectly, headlights work but do not switch between low & high beams

All in all, this 2002 is a custom, head turning, thrilling car to drive. The Pros definitely outweigh the Cons.
