1988 BMW E30 M3 - S52 Swap
Description
1988 BMW e30 M3.
First, let's start by saying this: The car has a rebuilt title from an accident that occurredin TX in the mid to late 90's. The engine swap was completed in '08. This is not a concourse car and if you are wanting an "original" M3 this is not the car for you. However, if you are wanting a solid car that can be driven and made into your own without the guilt/expense of deflowering an original M3, repairing a ton of rust, or assembling a giant erector set, this car is perfect.Body: Car has been painted in the past and is fading in some portions with clear coat peeling in others. Very light surface rust around the roundle on the hood, jack points, and spare tire well. Floor boards, windshield frame, rockers, battery tray, etc. are rust free. Original VIN Stickers are present on the hood, left fender, right fender, left door, right door, and trunk lid. I have not checked the bumpers for their stickers. All glass is original. Under trays are present around the spare tire well. Only repairs I could find evidence of are on the license plate panel around the tail lights.
Wheels, brakes, and suspension:AC Shnitzer Type 1 with Falken Tires - E36 fitment with spacers - wheels clean up nice but could use a refurb.Suspension is Tokico Shocks with stock springs, Condor Speed Shop Bushings in the rear subframe with Camber adjustment kit.Brakes are stock E30 M3 with Tree House Booster
Drive Train: Engine and transmission are from a 1997 TechnoViolet M3 with 67k. Now believed to be at 80k. The transmission is the stock E36 M3 5 speed and feeds a 3.25 diff. The DME has a TRM chip and the engine was converted to OBD1. UUC underdrive pulleys, UUC transmission mount, and AKG engine mounts were installed/used in the swap. No AC compressor but all other components are present. The engine is currently cooled by the AC condenser fan wired to a switch.
Interior: The previous owner wanted a black interior and began swapping out pieces as he found them. The carpet and door cards have been swapped, and the front seats are obviously not original. The front seats have some cracking from age but are still comfortable and clean. The dash has some light cracking. All windows and sunroof works as they should. The windows have been tinted and the back is faded. The original back seat and package tray remain in the car and are in good condition. The rear seat needs a good conditioning but the leather is still soft, isn't cracked and the stitching intact. The headliner is also in good condition.Original M Cluster was replaced by a 325i cluster showing 133,xxx on it. All gauges work properly with the exception of the odometer (I just purchased new gears and will either include them with the sale or rebuild the cluster). No radio.
The car runs and drives very well and would make the new owner a solid project car.I have more pictures and a few videos I can furnish upon request. I also have the original door cards, arm rests, and several other misc pieces that will be included with the sale. The knee panel and kick panels are not installed in the pictures but are included or will be installed by auction end.
The original S14 and transmission were sold to Metric Racing in 08/09 and installed in a race car in Australia. Should the new owner truly desire an S14, I have a complete drive train and parts that can be negotiated for separately. These parts will only be offered to the buyer so please do not ask.
A non refundable deposit of $1000 is due within 24 hrs of auction close and arrangements must be made for final payment and pickup within a week. Car is located in Knoxville, TN and can viewed by appointment. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
Any questions please ask. Thanks!
