Description

For sale by a private owner and a BMW enthusiast is a BMW 528e or as it is right now, 528i.This is the last year of the "shark" design/look 5 series BMW.I have owned this car since December of 2009, acquiredat the time from Philadelphia with only 85000 miles. Since then, in the last almost 10 years, I "managed" to put on little over 23k miles. So that is the reason for sale - too many cars, and too little time to drive them. And would appreciate an empty garage space as well. The car is truly a rust free example of the last E28 BMW series. It has been garaged and well taken care of by me and the previous owner. Never abused or raced (let's be real, this is not an M5 or anything close), but appreciated for looks and uniqueness.
As I mentioned previously, this E28 started as a regular gas sipping 528e version, that in this last year of production got little bump in horsepower to 127. As many other owners of 3 and 5 series eta cars, I've decided to modify the engine and add the head, intake manifold, end other parts from 325is model. This is known as e to i conversion. It increases the horsepower substantially.Few photos during the upgrade are included. The engine received a fully rebuilt 1989 BMW 325is head, along with an intake, throttle body, mustang 5.0 injectors, fuel pressure regulator, correct ECU, and etc. Basically everything that is needed for this upgrade as documented by fellow BMW enthusiasts. This was done about 9000 miles ago, in the summer of 2015. While we were "in there", new timing belt, along with water pump, thermostat housing, thermostat, temperature sensors, (all) cooling hoses, spark plugs and wires, coil, fan clutch, vacuum hoses, fuel hoses, and other parts were replaced.Other upgrades while the car was in my possession included replacement of the complete front and rear suspension components, including Vogtland lowering springs, Bilstein B8 Performance Plus front and rear shocks, Turner Motorsports Big Brake upgrade (larger disks, calipers, pads, hardware, etc), ECS Tuning Stainless Steel brake lines. The wheels came from a newer BMW 7 series. No fender rubbing or modifications. Drivers seat is little dirty due to my raw jeans die transfer, but with little cleanup would look great. This model came with illuminated window switches (big deal, right?). Many interior dash lights have been replaced and work correctly, this included a rebuild of LCD on OBCII screen. Power seats, windows, and sunroof all work without issues. Original radio, with cassette player, and factory amp.Trunk seal has been replaced as a precaution. Tail light gaskets as well (attached picture).Upgraded sport steering wheel, with removed leather due to fading.Dash has 3 small cracks as shown in the photo with a pen as a reference.Front drivers side fender has a dent due to my carpenter backing into the car while parked in the driveway.
The car just received new rear trailing arm links. Front end refresh, that included idler arm, center drag link, tie rod assemblies, and finally suspension alignment job.The transmission service included oil and filter change, along with new oil pan gasket.Steering fluid replaced as well, along with engine oil and filter change. Many other items replaced that I just can't remember as I type this right now.
The car is just not driven enough by me, so it would be the best for someone else to enjoy it as much as I did. It is a great cruiser, very stable and will do 80+ MPH all day on the interstate. All original miles. Clean title. Paint is still holding well, and is in good condition, in line with age.
If interested, the winning bidder will receive old engine's eta head, along with intake, throttle body, and other parts that were original with the car.I will also include original steering wheel that is in excellent condition. Original wheels and tires will be included as well.I'll also send other new parts for when the time comes, such as front and rear sway bar rubber bushings, air filter, valve cover gasket and plugs, steering reservoir, oil filter, and etc.
Thanks you for your interest.
