1988 BMW M6 88,100 Miles DINAN Suspension, Wheels, Brakes (With Receipts & Part Numbers) Extensive Service Records Black (086) over Lotus White Nappa Leather (0199) VIN: WBAEE1413J2560887 We’re selling this beautiful ‘88 M6 on behalf of a gentleman in the suburbs of Chicago. Sold new through Difeo BMW of Edgewater, NJ, the car stayed in the NJ/NY area for the first few years of its life before moving to Pennsylvania, then Florida, then Illinois. The factory maintenance booklet indicates that the car was serviced at a... couple different dealers in Long Island early on, with stamps through 1991 and 27k miles. Service records continue through 72k miles under Pennsylvania-based ownership, with the car seeing over $30k worth of maintenance between 1991-1996, and a handful of Dinan performance upgrades. The car has traded hands a couple times since leaving PA, and now has just over 88k miles. As it sits now, this is a nicely-sorted, well-presented M6 in great condition and with a known history. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up and under direct sunlight. Blemishes include a handful of minor chips and touched-up scratches, as well as a dry spot on the driver’s front fender about the size of a quarter. - Black is the original color, and about half the car still wears its original paint. The car was involved in an accident in Florida in 2014, as indicated on the CarFax/Autocheck, reported to have collided with a parked vehicle. Minor damage to the passenger front was recorded, and paint gauge findings confirm this. While the driver’s side of the car and trunk lid show paint gauge readings in the 3s, which would likely indicate original paint, much of the passenger’s side varies between 6.5-10, which would be consistent with one respray. Regardless, paint presents very well and there are no clear indications of a respray. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free, with the exception of one of the lower rear quarter indicator lenses, which has a hairline crack. Lights and signals are all functional. - 16” Dinan wheels look great, though the fronts do show a little bit of curb rash around the outer lip. BF Goodrich G Force Sport Comp 2 tires are in nice shape too, with minimal tread wear. This set of Dinan wheels is the only set of wheels that will come with the car. BMW “Bottlecap” spare with TRX tire is in the dry and rust-free spare well. - No bubbling on the body, which is refreshing to see here, as 6ers tend to be fairly rust prone. Area around the rear license plate lights is clean and dry, lower corners of the windshield, and the inside lips of the fenders/quarters are nice and straight. This car has clearly always been garaged kept, and judging by the fastidious nature of the service records, it has been babied. Interior: - Interior is pretty impressive. There is some aging of the black portion of the gauge cluster, as visible in the photos and video. Aside from that, not too much for wear. Some slight age of the driver’s door panel arm rest, but not significant. - Lotus White nappa leather seats are fantastic, having been recovered once in the mid 90s. Not really any visible wear to note. These are great seats. Polished sills and jambs are nice and clean. - Dash is in excellent shape, with no cracks, scuffs, warping, or other damage. - Odometer reads 88,100 and is functional and accurate based on known history and service records. - Air conditioning kicks on but does not blow cold. Alpine stereo and CD changer in the trunk are functional, and a receipt for the purchase and installation in 1993 is provided. Sounds great. Heat and fan are good. Wipers, powered seats, locks, and handbrake are all good. Driver’s rear power window does not work. - Headliner is in great shape. Sunroof is functional. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks quite good underneath. Some minor bits of surface rust on various suspension components, but very much dry and solid throughout. Many little dabs of factory paint are still clearly visible throughout the underbody, which is nice to see. - The car runs and drives beautifully. It starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly, has good clutch feel, excellent steering, and the ride quality is very, very good. No rattles, clunks, or tendencies of concern. The car tracks straight down the road, and brakes straight and effectively. There are dozens of service receipts from the 90s, documenting well over $30k worth of maintenance. Almost always serviced at the same Euro-specialist shop.
