This is a 1972 BMW 2002 aka, a Roundie. The car is a solid driver and has a 10' body/paint.This car had a long time owner in Virginia (since the early 80’s) and has been loved over the years and upgraded to be a reliable driver.
The car has some typical upgrades:
· Weber 32/36 carbThe car can take a bit to start if it's cold, but once it warms up it is fine and will restart on the first crank. It does smoke a little for a bit at cold start, but again, it stops once it gets warm.
The 4 speed manual transmission shifts well and the car will cruise at 70 with no issues.
This car will make for a good entry level roundie, you can leave it as is and just pile the miles on, or take the car to the next level with some additional interior and body work.
Interior:
All original carpet and blue German Vinyl do show some wear and tear but still in good shape. The front seats have some rips along the seams in the bottom part of the seat, but the rear seats are in very good condition.Dash has the typical crack in the middle section but can be covered.
Body:
The car was repainted decades ago, and the paint and body work is not the best. From 10 feet away it looks great, butas you can see in some of the photos the paint has crazing in several places, and there is sure to be filler around the body. The engine bay was previously painted with a black texture paint, so fair warning for the purists, this is not your car. =)
Both rocker panels have rust, but it has been treated with rust conversion material. A local BMW restoration shop quoted $600 to repair both sides, and we can help facilitate that if the new owner wishes.
The best news on this car is the frame rails, rear shock towers and underneath the car is rust free. We have many more underside photos available; just contact us for the link.
Rear bumper and turn signals are European original bmw for a much cleaner look. Ireland Engineering halogen headlights for much brighter night driving. e21 Alpina Style rims all the way around and do have a 5th for spare.
Suspension:
All new shocks all the way around installed with new top center bearings on front shocks as well. Brakes have been adjusted and new wheel cylinders installed in rear.
