BMW 535is 1987 E28 M5 suspension, air dam rear spoiler and seats.
Description
Today I am selling a hidden treasure I found recently that I cannot keep because I am moving to Canada and exporting the vehicle is complicated.
This is a BMW E28 535is. If you are looking at this listing I am sure that you are a BMW enthusiast like me so you should know that that the 535is is the North American version of the M535.
The 535is uses takes the drivetrain of the 535 plus components of the M5: M-Technic suspension, front air dam, rear spoiler and sport seats. This makes this vehicle much more desirable -and scarce- than a regular 535.This vehicle was kept in covered storage for 14 years ! Take a look at the stickers and you will see these are from 2002.This explains the great condition of the car.
I decided to buy it and have it checked by one of the gurus of European cars in California: Autohaus Europe in Orange County. The owner of this repair shop has been servicing BMW´s for over 25 years so he really know about these great cars.
The opinion of Autohaus is that this is a great vehicle with some details needed. I had already them to check the engine that is in great condition. I have done the following to the car: a new fuel hose, oil and filter changed, master cylinder replaced, new Bosch battery, radiator replace, suspension bushings change, complete tune up, new exhaust hangers, and new distributor rotor. I have invested already over $2,000.00 to have it in great condition so this vehicle is ready to be driven !
What needs to be checked is that the ABS is not working. You can see the light on at the photos. According to Autohaus they had to check every single component of the brake system. This would take a long time - and a bigger investment- so I decided no to do that for the moment. As I mentioned I had the vehicle checked and brakes work perfectly - new master cylinder - but the ABS is not working.
The other thing that is not working is the A/C. It seems that it has the old system and it was suggested to change to the new one (R12 to R134) and to have the compressor checked. About the A/C, I decided also to postpone this because I thought that I would have someone expert on A/C to have a second opinion and quite frankly because I could not wait to have the car ready.
I really encourge you to go and take a look at the car personally. The car is in Orange California and it is shown only with previous appointment. Send me a message and I will arrange the appointment.
Again, this is a vintage vehicle in great condition for its age, but there is no warranty expressed or implied at all for this vehicle.
As you can see, I have been on ebay since 2004 and my ratings are perfect so you can bid with confidence.
Any questions please BEFORE bidding.
Thank you for looking !
