Here we have a very unique and cool vehicle that will certainly be a hit at every car show you attend! This is a very rare 1983 Buick Regal Estate Wagon (2 Year limited production) that has been transformed into the wagon you see today! Call it a Regal Wagon…. Call it a T-Type Wagon…. Call it a Grand National Wagon…. Whatever you want!
This custom Buick features the front fenders and nose of a 1984 Regal, and finished to resemble the T-Type grill. All the work was done with sheet metal, not fiberglass, wood, plastic, bubble gum or duct tape. The bumpers were professionally stripped of their chrome and painted body color. The rest of the cars shell was painted 1988 Medium Orange Metallic used on the Iroc-Z using the PPG paint line and high build clear. All the trim on the car was removed; media blasted and painted satin black. During the paint process the car was stripped to metal including jambs, window frames etc. The point I am trying to make is the car was done right, not a hack job. The car still wears all of its own sheet metal and is rust free, and also features a set of early Grand National wheels.
The car originally came with a 4.1L V6, so that HAD to be changed! The power plant of the car is a modified Buick 455 bored .030 over at a 10:1 compression ratio. The block was decked, and a mild T/A performance cam, Edelbrock intake and a tuned Q-jet were installed. It has a very healthy rumble coming out of the rear exit dual exhaust. The transmission is a TH400 with a solid shift kit and a 2400 Saturday Night Special stall converter from Jegs. The rear axle is an 8.5 Corporate Posi from a Buick Grand National geared to 3.23.
The interior is in exceptional original condition having only one small tear in the driver seat. The rest of the interior is almost perfect including the rare brown T-Type steering wheel. All the window seals and felts were replaced with high quality replacements and the windows were tinted black. Even with all the modifications; the original A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel, power windows, power door locks, power steering, power brakes, power rear hatch release and power seats all work.
This is how Buick “should” have made the station wagon. This car demands attention everywhere it goes and is an absolute blast to drive. It corners on rails with its Hotchkins springs and totally replaced suspension and upgraded sway bars. This car was built 6-7 years ago and driven often so there are some mentionable items that I will disclose. The rear side cargo windows are missing the trim because as of to date I have not been able to locate replacement parts. They have been pulled and been resealed them with urethane to prevent them from leaking. The power windows work, but are slow to go up. The tint on the windows is peeling in a few spots.
This is a one of a kind custom turn-key car that will turn heads while being a blast to drive.
The reserve is set low for the amount of money that has been spent on this unique wagon. Don't let it get away. Please don't ask the reserve.... bid to win!
