This 1940 Buick Series 80 Limited is a NO RESERVE sale--need to sell, health issues. Garaged kept unable to drive her as much anymore. It's got one of the most powerful eight-cylinder engines you could buy in 1940, the most sophisticated suspension of the era, and it's recognized as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) so it's eligible for all the big events.
Restored (frame-off) a few years ago (have documentation & photos [see last photo]). Sidemounts appeared for the last time, and the 80-Series cars were the only ones big enough to carry them gracefully, so they look fantastic, giving the car an old-world elegance that would vanish in the jet age. The burgundy paint is exactly the right choice for a formal car like this, handsome, but not flashy and always timeless. All four doors open and close with a reassuring solidity. Chrome and stainless trim are all in very good condition, especially the pot-metal grille and parking light housings. This is a real beauty & head turner.
The interior has been redone in comfortable, gray broadcloth upholstery when restored and still shows new-like.
You can drive this car anywhere with its Buick's 320 cubic inch straight-8 engine, 140 horsepower. In high gear, it is nearly silent, and accelerates smoothly without bucking. The 3-speed manual transmission shifts easily and has light clutch action and the suspension feels buttoned-down and the ride is superlative. New, big 16-inch Lester wide whites gives it that factory look that everyone loves.
As of today, the wipers and radio do not work, but that is all that is wrong with this car that I am aware of. More photos on craig's list Augusta GA.
Included with your purchase of this car will be boxes of extra parts, too numerous to list.
Bidders... if you have less than 5 positive feedbacks, you must contact me prior to submitting your bid or it will be cancelled.
A friend took a video on 12/27/16 of the car. I can send the link so you can hear it purr.
