Description

Buick Shafer 1933

made by Hot Rod Chavik Company

I bought parts for Indycar AAA Buick Shafer Racing Specials in 2008.

And gave birth to the plan of how to recreate the car and bring this historic racing vehicle back to life.

The Buick Shafer was specially made by racer and builder Phil Shafer in 1933. Phil was a well-known and successful racer who in the 1930s ranked first at the Indyanapolis 500. This major race was a very challenging and deadly race where the cars reached a speed of 200 km/h. A lot of Cars did not survive and those what are original have immense value. Here was born the thought of experiencing the right feeling and feeling of excitement and right adrenaline as then.

Complete car after demanding reconstruction

First everything started at the drawing board and the plannin, we had an original engine, gearbox and gear, of course everything where in the finding condition.

It was not enough to completely dislodge Indycar.

I find design of Buick Shafer Indycar and according to this drawing I was able to reconstructed the vehicle and gave it life.

I did not change the process of production and production was same as in the 1930s. The bodywork, the frame, the drive is exactly the same as the original Buick Shafer, we've just put a little more in the look of the car, so I just have to say it's a bit nicer and everything is targeted to perfection.

The interior of the exterior of the colors and many others is absolutely perfect and carefully designed.

The bodywork of Indycar is made of aluminum sheets, all made manually, the frame is also made of steel and then the front mask is also made of steel because for the original Buick Shafer was used and modified front mask from Pontiac 1933.

Otherwise seat, floor, hoo, The body and lower aerodynamic hood for perfect air radiance into everything is made of aluminum.

For Buick Shafer was used straight 8-cylinde engine from General Motors that was used for Buick Roudmaster at that time.

The engines had about one hundred horsepower and the performance was set a lot lower than what could be able to do with straight 8-cylinder .

I used straight 8- engine content 248cui drilled on 600 inches on each cylinder, and fitted with special intake manifold for four karburetors Stromberg 97

The exhaust duct is not just as common.

With this modification the engine gives great respect with the current 3800 RPM the engine can now. With ease of 5100 RPM I estimate the power to 160 HP then I must not forget the three-speed manual transmission.

A shortened 46-inch wheelbase and a massive rear differential that drives huge wheels of 600-20 are

High Speed Tires from Firestone that were used at the time.

I had to a little bit intervene in design inside the interior .

Because when Phil was developing the Indycar he had taken everything what he had at hand or whatś left after older race cars that had been dismantled.

We carefully selected the original instruments that could be used at that time and according to our decent sense of desing, we placed them on the places where their beauty stands out and makes the dashboard the perfect steering wheel made by the English firm

Now the car is ready for authentic experiences for the owner who buys the Indycar. The car is ready for summer cruises on the coast because it is adapted to daylight and other necessary accessories for today's traffic.

It also ready to used as mono circuit races or high speed racing or drag racing but it depends on owner.
