Description

1955 Buick Century. Solid restoration project. The car will run, but is nowhere close to being roadworthy. It has been sitting since the mid 70’s, and will require a complete restoration. I have a damage free windshield, and rust free trunk pan which I’ll include along with the parts listed below.

This is a highly optioned car… power steering, power brakes, power windows, 4 way power seat, tinted glass, am radio, and factory air conditioning (a very rare option in 1955). There is a small amount of rust inside the leading edge of the trunk, to the left, and right of the lock striker, and a small section located in the lower right rocker area which needs a patch (it’s just forward of the passenger rear wheel).

The car was originally built in Arlington Texas, but has been in Arizona since about 1960. No other rust is present on the car. The floors are beautiful, and all lower body panels are clean (except the one already mentioned).

Paint colors XCC: Nile Green (X) upper, and Cameo Beige (C-C) mid/lower. Interior is #463 Green/Light Green Nylon/Cordaveen. I cleaned up the chrome on the front, and it looks nice. Haven’t touched the rear yet, but the chrome should look the same.

Century was Buick’s “Hot Rod”. GM put a 322/4V Roadmaster engine in the smaller lighter Special body. This car is worthy of a quality restoration. I have several other projects that I’m working on, and could be years before I start on this one. I would like to sell this project to free up some space, and resources for the others. Sorry... nothing in the background is for sale.

This car would make a great father/son, or winter project. The car will be sold with bill of sale only (title was lost many years ago, and is no longer in the DMV system). Bonded titles are a few hundred dollars, and obtaining a title will not be an issue. eBay does NOT have a check box for “missing”.., so the title is listed “clear”, but you will get a bill of sale.

Prior to starting the car, I pulled the plugs, filled the cylinders with oil, and turned the crank by hand (several times). Added fresh fuel, and a new battery… and the car fired right up. It actually runs good considering how long it sat. The mechanical fuel pump will need to be rebuilt/replaced because the car would only stay running by bottle feeding the carburetor. There were no strange engine/lifter noises. The condition of Dynaflow transmission, and Treadle-vac brake booster are unknown.

With the car running, I checked a few electrical items. The head lights, parking lights, and taillights work. The horns work, along with the power seat. All four power windows work (slowly for now), but they do work, and will work better after the mechanics are lubricated.

I purchased many Delco GM parts in anticipation of doing more work... everything goes with the car.

Lots of great research:https://www.hometownbuick.com/buick-models/1955-buick-models/

Please email any questions, I will answer best I can. The car will be sold as is where is. $500.00 PayPal deposit is required within 24 hours. Full payment is due within 7 days. I will assist loading the car on a trailer, but plan shipping as “non op” to be sure the transporter has the right loading equipment. I can hold the car safely on my property for up to 30 days once the car has been paid for.

This will be the last time I list the car for sale. If nobody wants it.. I will part out the good stuff, and scrap what's left.

Thanks for looking.

I have the car listed for sale outside of eBay. If it sells, I reserve the right to end the auction early.
