PPI's WELCOME OFFERS WELCOME! Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1947 Buick Super Convertible! We purchased this ‘47 Super Convertible out of a large collection of early American cars, the whole collection being liquidated following the passing of the owner. This is a two-owner car, having been with its original owner in California until the early 1980s, before being sold to Iowa. This car will come with the original manual, letter from the Office of the General Sales Manager, California registration (dated 1978), Iowa title, original selling dealer plate, and many, many service receipts from the work that we’ve performed. Services we’ve performed over the course of the last seven months are as follows: - Drain, clean, refill fuel tank - Flush and replace fluids: transmission, rear gear, oil, coolant - Rebuild twin-diaphragm fuel pump - Update electrical system to 12V with 12V regulator. Rebuild generator and regulator. - Starter conversion for 12V, rebuild starter - Disassemble, clean, and rebuild hydro-motor - Disassemble powered top mechanism, replace cylinder, yoke, and fittings, ensure functionality - Alignment of front wheels - Rebuild carburetor Having had all of these services completed, the car runs and drives very well. The car starts right up without fault, and the starter button is actually located under the accelerator pedal, so you just turn the key, hit the gas, and the car fires right up. The car doesn’t stutter under acceleration, it tracks and brakes straight, shifts well, and idles steady and quietly. Exterior: This car was originally green, paint code #26, which we believe was a shade of dark green called Brunswick Green. There are a couple small chips inside the door jambs where the green is still visible. The car was repainted once, in black. While the shine is great and the car looks amazing from ten feet away, there are specs of dust underneath the paint all around the car that are visible close-up. These specs are most significant on the lower portion of the rear quarters. Chrome is in great shape all around, with no dings or significant oxidation. There is a small scuff on the very bottom of the driver’s rear dogleg chrome piece, but it’s very, very light. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack free. White cloth top is in excellent shape, with no tears or damage. Interior: Original interior, Bedford Cord and red leather, is in great shape. With the exception of some staining on the rear seats, the interior is in very impressive condition. Front bench seat shows no tears or scuffs. Red carpeting is in great shape. All interior lights and all gauges are functional. Headlights are functional, even the A-pillar mounted fog-lights are functional! Blower and defroster are functional. Original Sonomatic radio is not, however. Power windows and top work perfectly. As noted in the above description of recent services, we’ve converted the car to a 12V electrical system. Underbody / Under Hood: The underbody of this car is in very good shape. There is some surface rust on suspension components, but there is not a single spot of through rust underneath this car. It is extremely well preserved. There is no damage either. Frame rails and floors are in great shape. This car was undercoated and it has served its purpose. This car has been in California and Iowa since new, obviously both very dry states. This car retains its original motor and transmission, with just over 65k miles. Odometer is functional and believed to be accurate, based on known ownership history and overall condition of the car. The motor in this car is a 248cid straight-8, which, while not very powerful, is smooth and quiet. It suits the car very well. As you would expect from such a large, luxury-oriented car, suspension is extremely supple and forgiving. Overall, this is an excellent driver-level example with low mileage and quite a bit of originality going for it. It has been thoroughly inspected and serviced, and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Please feel free to reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122 or with any additional questions.
