1987 Used 3.8L V6 12V Automatic RWD
Description
History The T-Type was a series of Buick automobiles that were popular during the 1980s. This marketing approach for Buick products was a revival of a similar approach used in the 1960s with the Buick GS designation. These T-Type cars were built as performance-oriented models and the most famous of these cars was the Buick GN and the T Type, which was based on the Regal platform. During the time that the T-Type cars were in production, turbochargers were all the rage in Detroit and adapted for use on the Regal, most notably. The T-Type series reached its peak in 1987. In addition, its turbocharged V6 made it an attractive alternative to its similar-bodied V8-powered siblings, such as the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and Oldsmobile 442 (neither of which had the turbocharger available to them). The one we have at Skyway Classics is a complete re-creation of a 1987 Buick T Type. It is well done with appearance and performance parts from an original Grand National. Features & Options The turbocharged engines in ours was General Motors' famous 3.8 L V6 engine with an automatic. The entire drivetrain was taken from a real Turbo Buick and transplanted in this Regal! This engine produced 245 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 355 lbs/ft of torque at 2800 rpm stock but has a lot more power available with its upgrades. They include a much larger Garrett A/R 60 M24 Turbo, larger Intercooler, aftermarket up pipe, aftermarket down pipe, 3 inch custom stainless dual exhaust with a capped dump pipe, dual electric cooling system fans with a 160 degree thermostat, Lucas 5208008 30-40 psi fuel injectors, Waldron electric fuel pump, coil voltage booster, RJC racing intake manifold air divider, Turbo Tweak 5.6 Computer Chip, aftermarket oil coolers, and a Scan Master 2.1 with Red Display. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) precisely matches the fuel delivery to engine requirements. The source of the LC2's monster power is the Garrett AiResearch turbocharger, aided by an intercooler. The GN's intercooler cools the air coming from the turbo as it travels to the engine. Aiding engine performance for this Buick is its free-flow dual exhaust system. The LC2 motor was computerized, so it is no surprise that even the high performance 200R4 (4 speed with overdrive) automatic transmission had its shift points computer controlled to get optimum power from the engine to the pavement. The transmission in this Buick is the original GN or T Type trans with the code BRZ on it. (See Photo of Tag.) This transmission worked so well, that Buick never saw the need for offering a manual transmission. The engine compart is amazing and clean. It is very detailed detailed and will be a focal point of any show you go to, especially seeing the Turbo and all its plumbing. The interior of this T-Type car has a grey bench seat with a fold down consolette and a column shifter and matching rear seat. It has Pw, Air, upgraded sound system, accessory sport gauge pillar pods, and more, factory air conditioning converted to modern 134A Freon, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and tilt steering wheel. Check out the trunk, which is nicely detailed, and you will see an upgraded Sony sound system feeding new speakers. The rear spoiler was only available as a dealer installed option and is on this Buick. The T-Type emblems are placed on the fenders and hood and on the horn button. This Buick rides on a suspension that has received a performance upgrade to help keep the power firmly planted to the pavement. This anti-roll bars, coil over air bag springs, boxed rear control arms with poly bushings, performance shock absorbers, and Buick GNX style wheels with 215's performance tires on the front and 235's on the rear to give it the right stance. It even has a real 3.42 Buick TType Positraction rear end. Availability It may not be a real T Type, but the one we have here at Skyway Classics has sure got the look and the performance, at a lot lower price too. So give us a call at 941-254-6608.
