Description

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this stunning and original southern California 1972 Buick Gran Sport 2 Door Hardtop Sport Coupe which has been restored with no expense spared and obviously always garaged and in completely rust free and mostly all original condition with it's stated by previous long time owner as original matching # GS 350 V8 engine! Sold new at 'Renney Motors' of Stockton, CA to its first long time southern California... owner on 6/2/1972 with all original selling documentation, owners manuals and original build sheet to be sold with the car. The Gran Sport name has been used on several high-performance cars built by Buick since 1965. In the GM brands hierarchy, Buick was surpassed in luxury and comfort appointments only by Cadillac which did not produce performance models. As a result, the Buick GS series were the most opulently equipped GM sport models of their era. The Buick Skylark with the rare GS options included dual exhausts, functional hood air scoops, heavy duty springs, shocks and stabilizer bar and a standard 350 V8 or optional 455/225HP V8 or the Stage 1 455/270HP V8 engines.Finished in an extremely striking 'Flame Orange' repaint in it's original factory color paint (Code 65) with it's original 'White' color (Code A) vinyl roof and with it's original factory 'White' (Trim code 135) vinyl seats and original interior with original factory 'Sonomatic' AM radio and original factory rally wheels with new 'BF Goodrich Radial TA' tires, and with custom after market gauges and steering wheel!Recently purchased from long time owner who had always garaged and covered the car! The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents - obviously a garaged and cherished driver since new. The car looks extremely impressive with a very professional 'Flame Orange' color repaint and the 'White' interior is in exceptional condition throughout! The dashboard itself, the carpets and all the seats are all in absolutely exceptional condition with virtually no signs of wear and tear! All the chromework is also in exceptional condition and the original air conditioning equipment is in the trunk. The 350cid V8 engine was rebuilt in 2015 with all new bearings and timing chain and included a valve job and is therefore obviously extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives absolutely magnificently - must be driven to be believed - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The transmission was also recently rebuilt and shifts smoothly through all the gears, the recently rebuilt engine runs beautifully and sounds absolutely magnificent, like a true muscle car should! Owned since new by obviously only mature and very careful drivers - never raced or abused - babied all the way! These rare Buick's are today highly sought after by muscle car enthusiasts internationally and this particular example has an automatic transmission, deluxe interior trim with a woodgrain dashboard, power steering, power windows, power front disc brakes, electric clock, air conditioning with climate control, dual exhausts, chrome Rally wheels, tinted glass, dual horns and washer wipers although please note that the AC equipment has been removed by the previous owner but will be included with the car. This Buick remains a very rare and highly desirable and collectible unabused and very nicely restored example of one of the outstanding muscle cars from the end of the era, which has high repute amongst muscle car collectors and obviously Buick enthusiasts for both it's beautiful lines and smooth fast performance. A sure-fire investment that's sure to appreciate over the years!
