Description

1967 Buick Skylark
***NO RESERVE**
We have for sale a 1967 Buick Skylark two door hardtop model. This classic car is suitable for restoration or will serve well as a donor car for someone who might want to clone a Gran Sport model. I do not know much about the history of the car as I took it on trade. As such, I will do my best to describe it accurately so that there will be no surprises or disappointments when you purchase the car. My life has been spent around these old cars so hopefully my experience will assist you with an honest evaluation.
Model & Features: The trim tag shows that the paint code on this particular car is Verde Green (a dark shade of green with J-J paint code) and the interior is black vinyl (code 138-A). One of the outstanding options on this car is the factory air conditioning system since that would have been a fairly rare option in 1967. The car also features power steering and power brakes along with a remote control outside mirror (shown in the photos).
Condition Of The Body: Overall the car is in fairly nice condition. Not perfect by any description but perhaps above average for a 51 year old car. Let me give you my evaluation of the condition of the body. The body panels appear to be good with only minimal rust in the typical areas (the lower ends of the two quarter panel are the poorest part of the entire body); the door rockers look good; the bottom edges of the two doors shows no rust through; the lower ends of the fenders look good (driver fender has one small hole but the passenger fender looks solid); and the floor pans seem to be around 90% solid. Even the windshield and rear glass area is slightly above average as these areas are prone to water standing which creates a lot of rust through (they show some surface rust but no major holes).
Engine Bay: As you can see from the photos the engine is about 90% complete. It is photographed just like it was when I traded for the car. The parts I noticed that are missing include the radiator, air conditioning components, alternator, etc. but the timing cover is sitting on top of the engine. The major components of the engine seem to be present but it will require some reassembly to make it functional. Be sure to look at the photo of the trunk as there are a lot of engine parts in the trunk that came with the car.
Interior: The seats are decent (better than many I have seen). The door panels are fairly rough but seem complete. The dash looks typical for a car that has been out of commission for some time (probably never removed but also not restored).
Additional Parts Included: We have several parts that will be included with the sale (some shown in the photos and others not shown). The trunk is full of various parts (engine, trim, etc.) and the rear seat area has some of the body moldings stored there. Also, we have the two inner fenders that came with the car stored in my shop along with portions of two rear quarter panels that will help in the restoration (they are original and have some good sheet metal available). Other than the inner fenders and additional quarter panels that are available everything that is included in this sale is shown in the photographs. We are making no representations that the moldings, engine parts, etc. are all present. Everything shown in the photos and in the car will be included in the sale.
Terms Of Sale: The successful bidder will be required to provide a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the end of the sale. Payment in full will be required at the time the vehicle is picked up (cash only; no checks). The car can remain in storage for up to 10 days after the sale but must be picked up within that time frame or additional storage fees will be charged per day.
Right To Cancel: Since the car is for sale locally we reserve the right to cancel the sale at any time to honor the right of a local buyer to purchase the car in person. Bidders will be immediately notified.
Location Of Vehicle: We are located in Florence, Alabama which is in the northwest corner of the state near the Tennessee and Mississippi state lines (about 2-3 hours from Memphis or Nashville and one hour from Huntsville). Any prospective buyer is certainly welcome to inspect the car at any time during the auction. We welcome the opportunity to have you see the car firsthand and know what you are buying.
Warranty & Title Transfer: There is NO warranty offered with this car. It is strictly sold "as is-where is" with no warranty implied or granted. The only transfer paper that can be provided will be a standard "Bill of Sale" transferring ownership from the seller to the buyer. The state of Alabama was not a title state prior to 1975 so all classic and antique cars before 1975 are sold only with a bill of sale. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to research and determine the requirements of your state as to the documents necessary to register the car in your name. If the car is purchased as a donor unit registration may not be necessary in your state.
Contact Information: Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I have tried to be as honest as I can with the description and facts. The car speaks for itself (seventeen photos) so I am not trying to conceal any aspect of the condition. I think it is neat old car worthy of restoration or suitable for being a donor car.

My Background

Hi, my name is Mark Sain and I've been a car guy for many years. Here's a bit of my story:

At a used car lot in a small middle Tennessee town the 'car bug' bit and I have been infected with this disease for over fifty years. The father of one of my high school friends was a co-owner in the dealership, which allowed me the opportunity to grow up around these classic cars. One of my first drives was an SS Impala, which has a way of hooking you for life! When you were in the graduating class of 1967 you were born to love the muscle cars of that era.

Over the last four decades I have bought, sold, restored and collected cars from every vintage. There was a Cadillac LaSalle, some Ford Mustangs, a sweet 1953 MG-TD, several Corvettes, a few pickups, and even a 1926 Studebaker! This diversified experience has included owning approximately 150 cars in the last forty-three years!

Within the last twenty years it has been my pleasure to concentrate more on collectible parts as I have personally witnessed how hard it is to find good quality, original parts for a vintage car. My travels have taken me to swap meets at Carlisle, Hershey, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Chicago, Moultrie, Louisville, etc. where I have built a relationship with other car hobby enthusiasts as a fair and reputable buyer and seller. I currently hold a ten-year certificate from Corvette Bloomington Gold for being a vendor at their prestigious event. As a result of these efforts, my warehouse now includes forty-two 'parts cars' and shelves loaded with engines, drive train parts, body parts, trim pieces, accessories, etc. Most recently I have been specializing in one of the most classic cars from the sixties - the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442.
My family has lived in Florence for over 35 years where we have established a good reputation within the community. We own and operate four businesses in Florence, which enables me to devote my 'hobby' time and energy to one of the real passions of my life. For me it has never changed. I grew up around the classic cars of the sixties and my wife jokingly says I have never grown up when it comes to these treasures.

We look forward to developing a relationship with you as we help you with your classic car.
