1985 Buick Riviera Convertible 3.8 Turbo Convertible 1985 Convertible 3.8 Turbo
Description
This 1985 Buick Riviera is a turbocharged convertible with a story to tell. After all, this is like the Buick Grand National's more luxurious droptop cousin, and it was this special series that helped revive ragtops at General Motors. But these Buicks remained a rare sight (less than 50 turbo convertibles were sold in 1985) because of the exceptionally high base price. This has been a garaged treasure all its life, and you'll know it the moment you see the original Red Firemist paint. This one has the kind of features and rarity that will make it a survivor hit at any car show. After all, these were almost like owning a custom car backed by a factory warranty. Few people were willing to pay nearly double the price to pluck a car off the assembly line and let the professionals at ASC do their droptop magic. That's why this special Buick has been cared for so well and the sheetmetal has stayed laser straight. This level of care goes right down to the details with the trim running down the sides and the pinstripe that perfectly highlights the gentle curves of the 6th generation Riviera. And that pinstripe is particularly attractive with the matching white roof in place. The chrome is bright and shiny, the rubber bumper fillers are in excellent condition, and all the emblems and lenses are beautifully clear. It even still wears its more aggressive T-type turbine wheel covers reserved for these rare turbo models. These were top of the line Buicks that reached into Cadillac territory, and so burgundy leather came standard inside. The full package still looks amazing, which tells you this was not left with its top off too long on sunny days. The handsome bucket seats strike a nice balance between armchair comfortable and individual support. The burled walnut veneer is some of the most handsome trim for any car in the 80s, and as expected with such an expensive convertible, it came loaded. This includes power windows, power convertible top, power locks, cruise control, power driver's seat, and a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, there's automatic climate control with air conditioning so you can stay cool even with the roof down on a summer day. But there's something else you might have noticed. This one has a full set of auxiliary gauges, including a boost gauge, and that's for a very good reason. Under the hood is the original turbocharged and fuel injected 3.8-liter V6 that was made famous in the Buick Grand Nationals of the era. This motor gave the Riviera one of the most admired 0 to 60 times in the luxury class and made it a bit of a secret rocket ship. It even has a fully independent suspension with sway bars front & rear to make it a sharp handler. Still, this Buick does not betray its luxury cruising nature with its power steering, front disc brakes, four-speed automatic transmission w/highway-friendly overdrive. Owning this Riviera turbo convertible means instantly joining a very exclusive club. It gets even better with fact that this is a true survivor right down to the original warranty card and owner's manual. It's amazing that this kind of desirable package and rarity can be had at such an affordable price. Call today!!!
