Description
Current owner is the 4th owner of this very original survivor quality boat tail Riviera purchased from arestoration paint shop in Indiana. It was the owners personal car that he took great pride in preservingincluding a show quality 2-stage base/clear repaint done to a very high standard.Current owner is a BCA (Buick Club of America) Member who has owned this car for over 18 years carefully preserving its original condition. I cannot overstate the near exellent condition this car is in all respectsboth cosmetically and mechanically.Attorney Owner is downsizing and is the only reason for the sale. The previous owner added aftermarket under-dash gauges that work fine to monitor all systems ratherthan rely on the "idiot light" factory instrumentation. I should note the speedometer needle is not broken, but instead what you're seeing is the factory "pre-set" speed warning. The speedometer needle at left isred in color and barely visible in this photo.Everything about this car is in near excellent shape, from paint, chrome, vinyl roof (no trademark bubbling underneath), interior trim, carpet, dash etc. etc. Dash is not split.
EXTERIOR: Burgundy Red Metallic (see closeup of high quality metal-flake content). All panels are straight, rust-free, and undamaged anywhere literally. Paint brilliance is exceptional and has excellent brilliance. All Chrome is intact, undamaged, no surface rust etc. All impact strips and bumper guards are still intact. NTB Custom tires are like new with little to no wear. No curb scrape to any wheels. Hood opens as it should and will stay up on its own. Rear deck has no rust on undersideand jack stickers are still in place. Glass is original/undamaged. All lamps work as they should and are undamaged. 2 or 3 small stone chips are observed on the fiberglass front header panel area. These will touch up just fine and do not detract from its otherwise near perfect finish. Owner left them as they are but wanted to disclose as much.
INTERIOR: Factory carpet and vinyl seats are new in all respects------no bolster wear. No heal-pad wear in carpet. OE-floor mats still in decent shape. Headliner is intact with no sagging etc. This hasalways been a non-smoker car. Aftermarket OE-style radio was installed by previous owner and hasBuick nameplate on it. It looks "correct" and has I-pod jack accessible if desired, but not visible otherwise. Rear Package Shelf is original and undamaged, but to further protect it, a removeable custom trim piece has been added to enhance appearance and protect original package shelf. The right door armrest had a v. small "split" in it. Previous owner sewed a leather patch over it which doesn't look bad------but is not "correct" for the purists. It can be removed easily enough. Perhaps even that armrest is still available today elsewhere by now? All Dash instrumentation works as it should. AC is all original and still blows ICE cold. This car will really take you back in time to a factory new '73.
MECHANICAL: In the last year, owner added pertronic (sp?) ignition to reassure quick-start etc. This car floats effortlessly down the road like a Buick luxury car should and it's 455 powerplant will launch you back into your seat with it's aggressive horsepower. Transmission shifts as it should in all detents. No suspicious noises, odors or leaks evident-------sign of a truly fabulous car. The underside of this car does have some cobwebs for it's insulated dry storage area, but is otherwise unremarkable.I should note the factory power mast antenna broke off at its base and has not been replaced since the radio works fine. Again, senior owner has not see fit to replace it, but is aware these are available.
I've looked at ALOT of the past Buick sales online and genuinely believe this is among the best of its kind for its quality and originality. I understand the word "survivor" may not completely apply for its higher quality repaint by the previous owner, but any other modification can be easily removed or amended making this one of the select few at this level. The November/ December Old Car Price Guide suggests a #2 value at $22,000. A #1 is just under $32k.NADA shows $24,840.00 as equipped. NOT adjusted for improvements etc.Hagerty Evaluation Tool suggests a #2 car is $22,900 with a #1 being $33,300.00.
I don't mind sharing with informed buyers the reserve is set competitively in the spirit of a sale.Be assured this will make the perfect Christmas gift in red and be one of your more prized autos for it'squality. True original cars of this age are increasingly difficult to find, but this one has survived for its care. This will be listed elsewhere following this listing and I suspect will sell in short order. As the current Attorney owner will reassure you, this will absolutely sell to the first person who drives it. It's one hell of a car and a reluctant sale as he starts to part with his toys.No trades as owner is downsizing. Please direct any calls/e-mails to: CA in TN 615.979.3058Additional photos or test-drive are available with advance notice. Finally, buyer will be asked to sign a buyer's agreement with the customary "as-is/where-is" language provided by our memership in a car club.Located in dry Franklin, TN. This car will drive anywhere with ease and reliability. That's all that comes to mind.
