The Electra 225 Custom was Buick’s top-of-the-line offering in 1965. It represents a luxury sport coupe that is very fitting of the era, brimming with style and loaded with power accessories. And at a whopping 225” in length (almost 19 feet) the “deuce and a quarter” represents proportions and styling from a golden era.The white paint and Buick trim... give an elegant look that masks the car's true dimensions. The crisp body lines and “W” front end are very sharp features as well. This example is in wonderful condition, having a very straight body and one repaint along with exceptional chrome and brightwork. The underside is solid without any rust issues. The engine is Buick’s “445 Wildcat” displacing 401 cubic inches and producing 325hp. This is mated to a Buick Super Turbine 400 3-speed automatic transmission. Of course the car is equipped with power steering and power brakes that use Buick’s huge finned drums. Everything is in good operating condition with many new parts including control arm pivots, steering center link, idler arm, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes. The black interior is a real Buick throwback. There is obviously plenty of space starting with the big front bench seat with center folding armrest. All the interior materials are in remarkable condition. The car is equipped with a power front seat along with power windows (including the vent windows). The instrument panel is highlighted by the two large pods on either side of the steering column. All the indicator lights work properly. The center of the dash contains all the HVAC controls and the factory radio. The air conditioning blows cold and has been converted to R134a, while an aftermarket sound system has been installed under the glove box and includes a remote control. This is a complete, turn-key car that just needs a new owner. Whether cruising down the highway or having a night on the town, it is a very distinguished automobile that shows what the Buick brand is all about. As the Electra brochure said in 1965, “When you've arrived, there's no harm in letting other people know it.”
