Description

This outstanding automobile is finished in Royal maroon metallic with contrasting red leather interior . It is (in my opinion) the best color combination Buick offered in 1941!

Previously owned by a very fussy collector, it was meticulously restored in 1997 and then went on win its first junior award, then all the way up to AACA Grand national champion.

Although Mr. Johnson had many cars, this one was special !

His first encounter with a 1941 Buick Super was at a country club where he and his family were members.... The story as told to me, starts like this: At the behest of his father, Chris took a summer job at the club, one of his duties was parking cars. A perfect assignment for Chris, he loved Cars !

One day a beautiful 1941 Buick Super convertible in Royal maroon metallic quietly rolls in.

The car was magnificent and the woman driving it was stunning! Throughout the summer he became friendly with both the lady and the car creating memories that would last his lifetime.

The summer ended, he went back to school, the Buick and the ladywent on with life, both never to be seen again.

Mr. Johnson went on very successful in both his business and personal life.

He married a beautiful lady who not only gave him children, but devoted herself to him until his death ...

His search for the Buick ended in 1994 with the purchase of another low mile Super convertible.

The restoration then began. Ralph Baldwin was chosen to head up the paint and body. Jenkins restoration was responsible for the interio, top and all aspects of the soft trim, Master Plating performed their magic on all the chrome. Other quality shops were employed as well.

The quality of this very expensive restoration (approx. 75k)in 1997 money is remarkable and all receipts are present. This car is still as lovely as the women in Chris's memory and is capable of winning all of these awards again.

Now offered for auction . It would take double the 75k originally spent to replicate today and I stillthink you would have "half" of what this automobile is.

Thanks for reading my ad. I hope you enjoyed the story...

Contact Frank with your questions or concerns at: 860.354.4461 (office) or 203.788.1745 (cell) and of course via e-bay..

I always suggest an independent appraiser prior to any expensive purchase .

Although I believe that all aspects of this Buick are close to number 1 condition especially when you consider the age of the restoration (at least 1-) you should verify before you buy !

I just realized photography is not my forte! Does not do this car justice.

I'll let a pro re-dothem (or try again)

If you truly intereste, this car is a "must see and touch" kind of car.

Best Regards to all.

Frank.

Thanks for all your interest !

OK . I'll start with a quote " There you go again"

The state of the hobby .. according to at least 3 gentleman inquiring about this Buick;

(1) Prewar and basically all collector cars will suffer massive loss's in value.

Some what true. The people who remember them the most are probably dead! I, personally do not believe that at all! Really nice cars do sell.. and at a fair price, it just takes longer..

(2) Young people have no interest, so you have to sell it to me or else !

Their interest in vintage cars among younger people has been growing .. They are knowledgeable.. The most successful of this group have a great appreciation for history .. Ar, Sports memorabili, vintage cars ect.. still continue to sell at (sometimes) higher that predicted price at auction... All the auction's are watching this occur and have adapted to the younger buyers needs .. on line bidding comes to mind..

(3) This hobby has evolved.. Just about everything is reproduced, and the quality has improved dramatically .. sometimes better than NOS.. That alone indicates the state of the hobby ..

(4) Why would a young person by a 1941 Buick ? I don't know, maybe he/she is sick of every street rod or every other exotic car they see at Starbucks .. Who knows . Everything makes a comeback, just look at fashion industry ..

(5) Bottom line.. If you desire to be different and appreciate history.. this car or any other vintage car of that era may be for you .. 1941 was a great year for american automobiles GM was leading the pac, Cadillac was the "Standard of the world " Buick a very close second..

(6) The story about this car is true.. I HAVE THE RECEIPTS for all the restoration cost, and it did win the coveted AACA grand national senior award.. That is a really big deal.. and this car can still do it again!

(7) I'll take serious offers as well..

Although driven regularly (when weather permits) This Buick is still a award wining car !
I'm happy to show and road test this car to any potential buyer or their agent.
Hey All, Sunday 07/ 07/19 was a beautiful day ! The Buick started like a new car, top came down. radio played perfectl, drove as it should .. smooth as silk, no rattles steering on center .. The car is truly a driving experience .. Buick really did build a better car !! Frank.......
