The rear window angle was so severe that, from some angles, it appeared to be canted greater than 90º. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1985 Buick Riviera. This example was assembled in GM’s Linden, New Jersey factory. It was delivered to Lloyd Treadway Buick-Datsun Inc. in Findlay, Ohio, then sold to its first owner, who lived in Findlay, on April 8, 1985 with 12 miles on the odometer. This Riv left Linden with the following options - power front seats, electric trunk release/pull down, electronic touch climate controls, leather-wrapped steering wheel, theft deterrent system and more. It is a low mileage example with less than 19XXX miles and has been garaged and cared for by the previous owner for over a decade. (2009)Finished in white (code 11), the car’s paint and trim are in overall excellent condition, including the matching padded vinyl roof (code C04). The car’s bodywork is straight and solid, its engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery appears new, the trunk is in excellent shape and includes a liner, mat and spare tire, and the car’s chrome bumpers are in great shape. There’s also a factory sunroof (code CF5).This Riviera rolls on Uniroyal Tiger Paw Royal Seal tires (code P42), size 205/75R15 at all four corners. These tires are self-sealing in the event of minor punctures. Each tire is wrapped around a steel wheel topped with a wire wheel cover (code N91). The tires and wheel covers are all in very good order.Underhood is GM’s 307 CID V-8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. It is mated to a Turbo Hydramatic 325-4L four-speed automatic transmission (code MX0) with a 2.73:1 final drive (code F47). Driver convenience features abound – automatic climate control (code C68), automatic headlights (code T82), power steering, power brakes, cruise control, tilt steering column, power windows, power locks, power remote sideview mirrors (code DG7), rear window defroster (code C49), remote electric trunk release, auto latch and locking trunk lid (A90, A91) and theft deterrent system (code UA6). Needs new hood struts.Inside, the car’s interior is done is Tan (code 167). The front and rear seats are in great condition. The front bench seat is split 55/45 and has a six-way power feature plus a dual memory position for the driver’s side and pull-down center armrest (AG2, AG3 and AM6). The matching carpet is in similar condition, as is the headliner. Car comes with rear seat reading lamps and courtesy lights. There’s a leather-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel and shift lever (code NP5), that looks great. The inner door panels echo the rest of the interior and the brown instrument panel, complete with digital gauges (code U52), except for the odometer, has burled wood veneer. The dash is in excellent shape. Completing the interior is a factory Delco-Bose AM/FM stereo with cassette deck, seek/scan and auto reverse (code UU8).From its debut in 1963 through 1978, the Riviera was a rear-drive car, unlike its E-body cousins, the Cadillac Eldorado and Oldsmobile Toronado, which had been front-drive since the late 1960s.Nineteen seventy-nine saw the debut of the first front-wheel drive Riviera. Built on a trimmer, 114-inch wheelbase, it once again shared its mechanical design and platform with the Cadillac Eldorado and Oldsmobile Toronado. The Olds 403 and Buick 350 were dropped, but the Olds 350 remained, as did a new turbocharged 231 Buick V-6 (3.8 L). The Riviera became Motor Trend's Car of the Year. Sales more than doubled, to 52,181 for 1979 and 48,621 for the very similar 1980 models.Nineteen eighty-one saw the Turbo renamed T-Type and the demise of the 350 engine in favor of the Oldsmobile-built 307 CID. The standard engine was now Buick's 252 CID V-6, and a new option was an Oldsmobile diesel engine through 1985. Overall sales made the 1980s Riviera a great success, reaching 65,305 for the 1985 model year.If personal luxury coupes appeal to you, or if you desire a large, comfortable cruiser from the Go-Go 1980s, you should visit MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this extra low-mileage Riviera today!Documentation includes original window sticker, original Buick Let's Talk booklet, original Delco-Bose music system guide, original owner and warranty assistance information, original build sheet and a sheaf of maintenance and parts receipts plus assorted, other paperwork and spare keys.Coupe competition to this Riviera in 1985 included BMW’s 635CSi, Cadillac’s Eldorado, Dodge’s 600, Mercedes-Benz’s 230 CE, Mercury’s Grand Marquis, Oldsmobile’s Toronado and Pontiac’s Parisienne.VIN: 1G4EZ57Y7FE435982This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
