Description

This 1972 Buick Riviera GS is one of the most daring designs put to sheetmetal. So when you have proper big V8 power and great investments to keep it a luxury cruiser (like an upgraded A/C unit,) the result is an coupe that retains its classic look but loves modern driving. Arctic White paint is a great factory-correct color to have, especially with the added classic elegance of a white vinyl top. It has the look of distinction,... which is exactly what you want on a 3rd gen Riviera because these had style. The pointed front end has a deep crease that flows outward on the long hood until it merges with the door line. The rear fenders have of one the sportiest kick-ups ever given to a car, and the full-length trim really loves to highlight this. And it all flows toward the back where you have Corvette Sting Ray glass and rear sheetmetal that taper inward to give even more definition to the pointed boattail. Oh yes, this was one of the few times GM's dream cars made it into the public's hands. Inside you get a very survivor-style kind of presentation with just the right subtle upgrades. The Riviera is all about being a personal luxury machine. The button-top saddle leather seats have a great period-correct look. There's plenty of room for family and friends, but all you need to do is fold down the front armrest to remind you this is a personal luxury cruiser. The seat power adjusts to your ideal comfort position. You'll slip behind the thin three-spoke steering wheel, and that gives you a commanding view of all the features that surround you. It's a driver-oriented setup that includes power windows, power locks, and cruise control. Plus, you have some great subtle upgrade, like the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner with USB input. And the air conditioning is blowing cold with modern R134a. Under the hood is the bold red block of the massive 455 cubic-inch V8. Buick didn't make them any bigger, and so these have a reputation for serious power and torque. It's believe to be the original motor, and it remains well maintained, including the hoses and a newer MSD distributor. It fires up nicely and runs like a smooth Buick should. The motor inhales deeply from a four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a sweet sound out of the dual exhaust. You'll really enjoy taking this Riviera out on the town, because it has nice features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes w/discs up front. And those classic-looking Buick wheels are actually an update to modern 17-inch units, so you can fit more modern performance tires. This is one of the best-looking classics around that has also been invested in to enhance its best features. It's a package that reminds you the best classics have power and comfort. Call now!
