Description

1992 Buick Century Station Wagon - ONLY 38,000 ORIGINAL MILES
2.5L "Iron Duke" 4-cylinder, automatic transmission, cloth interior, power windows & locks, power seats, roof rack, original stereo w/ cassette player. Seats eight.
I bought this wagon from a man who had just inherited it from its original owners (his grandparents). The car looks and drives like a vehicle with just 38K miles. It has been in Georgia with me since March 2015; prior to that it spent almost its entire life in North Carolina. The body is as solid as they come with virtually no rust anywhere. There are minor scuffs here and there but no deep scratches or dents. Peeling clearcoat is a common ailment of these older GM vehicles, but the clearcoat on this Century looks fine. The car isn't super shiny, but these old metallic paints never really were to begin with.
The car appears to have been stored outside in the sun for some time. The only real cosmetic issues are faded chrome trim and some cracks in the exterior weather stripping (see photo). The door seals look very good, however. The interior is in equally excellent condition as the body. There are no cracks in the dash nor rips in the seats. A few tiny stains here and there that are hardly noticeable.
The engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. The passenger window works but it's slower than the other three. There is a very slow leak in the A/C system, but it still blows cold with a recharge. A new, genuine GM high-pressure switch (the suspected source of the leak) is included with the sale. Otherwise all controls and power options appear to work normally. The engine cradle has some surface corrosion, probably from sitting outdoors in the humidity without being driven. The rest of the undercarriage looks as solid as the body. There is a narrow gap between the rear bumper and the rear hatch where a small plastic body panel may have once been (see photo).
The car just recently received an extensive maintenance service that included four new Hankook tires, an Amsoil synthetic oil change, a full tune-up (including a new battery), a transmission fluid change, and a full front brake overhaul. I've included a clip of the invoice with more details and part numbers.
The car is not showroom perfect, but it's probably as close to a "new" 1992 Buick Century as you're going to find. It's a true time capsule. The mileage alone makes it very rare, but the powertrain is also unusual. Most wagons I've come across (especially with these options) had the larger 6-cylinder engines.
This is my daily driver, so mileage may increase slightly throughout this auction.
