Description

Rare 1966 Buick Riviera Gran Sport in very solid conditionwith a unique history. This car has an engraving on the dash panel that says it was customized from an old speed shop. Itseems to bepretty rare because of allits factory options as well as the customizing options. It has the black vinyl top which was on less than 500 of the Gran Sport cars for the year. Also, it has comfortable bucket seats and center console with theautomatic shifter. This would be a perfect car for a full restoration because of the options and the condition of the frame and body. The motor sounds really good, very sound running motor it just seems to need a carb rebuild. The transmission works great and could only benefit from a fluid flush and fresh fluid. Some steering and suspensioncomponents need replacing because there is a lot of play in the steering and some bounce over bumps. It seems like it has mostly originalequipment on it and was not worked on that much as far as maintenance or upgrades to the running gear. There are only a few small dents on the whole body and the bumpers and trim are in great condition. This car came from Kentucky and the frame and body is in amazing straight condition for the age of the car. It is a very solid car with only surface rust underneath. The wheel wells all look like new and still have the original undercoating on them. You could just do some maintenance the drive train components and fix the interior items and have a great driver quality car. Recently there has been brake work, engine tune up with plugswires and distributer, exhaust work, a few new tires, and a drive shaft repair.I will go ahead and list out all the positives and negatives about the car so you get a good idea of the overall scope of the car.

POSITIVES:

Highly optioned car with Power steering, Power brakes, Power windows, Power drivers seatand door locks, cruise control, black vinylbucket seats, center console shifter, tilt steering wheel, windshield washer button, tinted visor windshield, air conditioning, am fm radio,

The motor and trans are in great operational condition with original components

The frame and whole structure of the car is in great condition and the body is very straight

The interior in mostly original and mostly intact

The hideaway headlights work good

Chrome intake and water filler neck

Power windows work but act up because the switch or wiring

Head liner is pretty good.

Wipers work

Speedometer works

MW engine code, BS transmission code,

Heavy duty suspension package

Rocker protector panels

Original protecto plate and owners book

NEGATIVES:

A lot of the interior items need fixing or replacing such as the dash instruments and back lights, seats and panels are not perfect, wood trim on console came off, ash tray is not staying up, passenger visor falls down, driver mirror, heat blower motor, horn, switches for washer fluid switch etc.It seems like some things are just not hooked up correctly because someone changed gauges etc. but some things are just broken and need fixing like the horn and heater vents, and power door locks

Seats and door panels are not perfect

Needs a carb rebuild

Needs steering components to bring the alignment back

Paint is not perfect and has a couple dents

Wheels are missing 3 of the 4 caps that have the R for Riviera

Odometer stopped working at 92,500 miles probably not too many more than that on the car plus the condition is so good it shouldn't matter

Drivers power seat motor works but does not move.

Vinyl top has some bubbling in the back

So, I hope you can get a good picture of the car with its qualities and down falls. I always try to represent an accurate description the car. Overall I think the car is in great physical condition and the motor and trans are really good. It just needs a lot of fixes in the interior. This will be a great car when restored and could be a good collection car. Thanks for looking. Check out a video of the car running at https://youtu.be/rYIvSTdiGic
