Description

NO RESERVE! I love this car but don’t have time or space for it anymore! I've bought and sold cars on eBay before and have an impeccable reputation, so read carefully and bid with confidence!

From Cadillac's 1974 full-line brochure:

"Presenting the only luxury convertible built in America: Eldorado Convertible by Cadillac.Excitement was never more elegant--elegance was never more exciting. You can see it in the new boldness of its lines and the richness of its interior. You can feel it in the response of its 8.2 litre engine and in the superb maneuverability afforded by front-wheel drive, variable-ratio power steering and Automatic Level Control. It even converts uniquely. With an ingenious inward-folding Hideaway Top. Eldorado Convertible--a unique motoring experience."

I bought this car in 2014 from a private seller in Kenner, Louisiana. It had "good bones" but needed a new interior, convertible top and some TLC. I've since done lots of restorationand would say it's in great mechanical and cosmetic condition today. It's not a show car, but it's a superb example of a '74 Eldo—a solid “condition 3 - good” according to Hagerty’s valuation tool. It looks amazing and can be driven anywhere with confidence.

Cadillac built 6,800 Eldorado Convertibles in 1974, but this one's unique as it's in one of five NEW paint colors available that year: "Victorian Amber Firemist." This was one of six optional “firemist” colors (Cadillac speak for “metallic”).The vinyl convertible top is Sandalwood and the interior is White upholstery with Black carpet and dash. I've NEVER seen another like it. While the 1975 and '76 model years are more common (Cadillac stopped making the Eldorado Convertible in 1976), I think the '74 model year was the prettiest as it retained the round headlights and rear fender skirts of the ’71-’73 models but has the smoother lines and revised dash of the ’74-’76 models. What's consistent is the 500 cubic inch 8.2 liter V-8, the largest production V-8 EVER in a passenger car.

Convenience options on this car include:

Automatic Climate Control

Cruise Control

Power door locks

Lamp monitors

Firemist paint

AM/FM stereo with tape player (8-track) and power antenna

Twilight Sentinel

Soft ray glass

Rear window defogger

Split front bench w/dual comfort 6-way adjuster

Front license plate mounting bracket

Door edge guards

Controlled cycle wiper system

EXTERIOR CONDITION: Very Good

The car was repainted a few years before I acquired it in its original Victorian Amber Firemist color including the hard top boot. The paint is damaged on one half of the boot (email me for pic). There are minor scratches and dings consistent with the paint’s age and two nearly identical dents the size of nickels one on each front fender (email me for pics). There are several small bubbles behind the base of the convertible top (typical). The chrome is shiny with only some minor surface rust on the underside of the rear bumper above the tailpipe (typical). The glass is clear and crack-free. I put on a new vinyl convertible top in the original Sandalwood color with glass window and defogger. No rot problems underneath that I’m aware of with only surface rust on the underside, primarily in the rear.

INTERIOR CONDITION: Excellent

I had the seats and door panels recoveredwith pleather to match the original White sierra grain. I also had the carpet replaced to match the original Black color (including the door panels, trunk and spare). The top of the dash and the sun visors were recovered and all the weather stripping was replaced. The original plastic seat backs show some wear.

MECHANICAL CONDITION: Very Good

This car fires right up, runs strong, and shifts smooth. It's quiet and rides like a cloud. The convertible top, power windows, radio, power seats and all exterior lights work as they should. The electric door lock motor works but the lock cylinders do not actuate. The power windows can only be operated from the driver's door. The climate control was repaired when I first purchased it but just the blower is working at the moment. The interior lights were all relamped and the power antenna replaced but both need new fuses. The cruise control, wipers and rear window defogger do not work. I had the tires replaced with correct white walled radials less than 500 miles ago.The battery, brake lines, radiator hoses and fluids were changed six months ago.Bottom line, it’s not a daily driver but a great weekend cruiser!
