Description

You are bidding on a 1973 Superior Cadillac Hearse. This hearse is a very desired 3 way model, which allows for a casket to be loaded out either side of the hearse as well as the back door.
This hearse was stored in a barn for many years, we got it fired up and loaded onto a trailer and brought it home. It was sold to a friend, who had intentions on fixing it up, but never got around to it and lost interest. He hasnt started it in the 3 years that he has owned it, so the carb may need cleaning and the gas tank drained and fresh gas put in. It needs leaf springs too, and will not be able to be driven without them. It also needs a new muffler. The hearse is in rough shape, with some crunchy rust spots around the edges and in the bumper. The windshield is cracked, but I can assist you in finding another. I know a guy locally that has a good plexiglass one, and I also know of a a place that specializes in hearse glass. There are a couple of pieces of trim missing. It still presents itself well, despite the things that need to be repaired.
This 1973 Cadillac has the standard 472 V8, which was undoubtedly the best engine ever made, not only by Cadillac, but by anyone else up to that time. It has the TH-400 transmission, which was a perfect companion to the power of that mighty v8.
You can part this car out for double of the starting bid, or put a little time and effort into it and have yourself a classic to enjoy and be proud of. 3way hearses are probably the most desired hearses because of the aesthetic pleasure of seeing the gorgeous suicide doors opened with a shiny casket being loaded out of the side. They are becoming harder and harder to find. This vintage hearse would be a great prop or rolling advertisement for a haunted house. It is my hope that it will go to a serious collector that will restore it to its former grandeur.
This is a great opportunity for someone who didn't get what they wanted for the holidays to start their new year off right. Buy that hearse that you always wanted and have some fun restoring one.
You are welcome to come and see it in person before you bid, but please, if you do place a bid be serious about purchasing it. Your winning bid is not an invitation to be a looky loo and kick the tires on it talking about how your friend in high school had one.
I am always looking to buy pre 1974 hearses as well as funeral antiques and other strange items. If you know of any available, just shoot me a message. I will gladly pay a finders fee for something that I end up purchasing.
I have owned, bought, restored, sold and traded hearses for 25 years. I have shipped to every state and have shipped hearses to other countries. If you need assistance in finding a good shipping company to bring this hearse home, I may be able to help.
