Description

I’m reluctantly selling my 1934 Cadillac 355D V8 series 10 model 34721 convertible sedan. The reason for the sale is because at this stage in my life it’s getting increasingly unlikely I’ll ever get it done.

Reading ebay car ads I’m amazed at what people call rare, but considering I’ve been told Cadillac made about a dozen series 10 convertible sedans in 1934, and I know of only 2 others, one in the Netherlands, I think this actually qualifies. The Series 10 had a 128 inch wheel base so it was the smallest Cadillac that year, I’m not saying it’s a small car, but it’s a very nice close coupled convertible.

This is a very nice car, straight, solid and very complete, with the exception of the upholstery. Here’s my description:

Chassis.
Frame is straight, undamaged, solid with no rust. Suspension is tight, and in good shape, however the rear springs have some pitting. The 6 wire wheels are excellent. The wheels turn freely. All the brake parts are there. Links, cables & housings levers, vacuum boost all look excellent, but need some freeing up. Fuel tank is solid and rust free. Steering gear turns smoothly with minimal play.
The bi-plane bumpers are straight and solid.

Drive Train.
The original 355 V8 engine is numbers matching, and has been rebuilt, along with the Detroit Lubricator carburetor, starter and fuel pump. It runs excellent as you would expect and sounds great too with a brand-new stainless-steel exhaust (watch video). The clutch works fine, the transmission shifts well into all gears, shifter is tight as it should be, and its quiet in all gears. The drive shaft is straight with no u-joint noise, and the differential is quiet also, with no sign of leaks or other problems.

Body.
The sheet metal and wood framing have been professionally restored by a true expert. The body is rock solid, arrow straight, and absolutely 100% rust free. Floors are excellent, gaps excellent, doors shut like a bank vault, the running boards are flawless. It is covered in epoxy primer. The hood has not been restored, it has several coats of paint, but is also straight and solid, with good louvers. The spare tire covers are very nice and have all the stainless trim. A nice, correct accessory trunk is included but it is missing the latches. The top frame is also solid and straight with no damage. However, there are no #2, #3, or #5 wooden bows. The correct back window is there, all other glass needs restoration.

Trim.
All of the trim is there except the stainless for the running board edge. However, all the chrome needs restoration except for the hubcaps and hood goddess which are new and have never been plated. The grill is straight and new bars are included.

Interior.
The upholstery needs complete restoration. I do not have the seat springs. The seat frame is like new. I do have original door panels, kick panels, side panels and seat back for patterns. All window regulators are in good working condition. A complete set of door handles and window handles are included but need re-chrome. There is a complete set of ashtrays which are excellent. There is also a new firewall pad.
The instrument panel is very nice and complete. The gauges are all present and look nice. I don’t know if they work since the car is not wired. Lighter and map light are excellent. The car is equipped with the correct radio and heater. The original cardboard glove box is included for a pattern.

Additional Parts
Some parts have not been installed on the car but are included in the sale. This includes the light switch, horn relay, voltage regulator chrome top irons, inner fenders, running board mats, as well as over $1,800 in reproduction Steele Rubber parts (inventory is available). A large box full of fasteners and small parts in separate zip-loc bags. I will also include (if you want it) a spare chassis with a set of wheels, suspension and differential. It has an engine and trans. But they are not good. The only problem is it’s outside, frozen to the ground.

Missing Parts
As I said, this is a very complete car, but there are a few items missing. Including: the control shaft that runs down the steering column for the hand throttle and light switch. One of the half hubcaps for the spare tire, latches for the accessory trunk, the handle for the cowl vent. None of these are unique to series 10 or convertible sedan.
This is not a guarantee, it’s just what I know of.

Terms of sale
A $500 deposit is required 48 hours after the sale. I will except PayPal for this. I will not accept PayPal for the balance. I prefer wire transfer or cash. If other arrangements are made, the car will not leave here until the funds have cleared.

Buyer is responsible for shipping.
