I celebrated my 80th birthday last week. I guess, as much as I hate the idea, it is time to part with some of my toys.
The trophy pictured on the hood is from the 2016 Brimfield MA Antique Auto Show (600 - 800 cars).
It was awarded as "Steve Magnante's Choice". If you know who Steve is the award really means something. The car has received a number of other trophies and is very popular at shows & cruise nights.
It is Comfortable, Reliable, Fast & Economical (20+ MPG on regular unleaded). 6000 adult driven miles on the build with no problems ever.
We started with the cleanest 80 - 84 Coupe I have seen in many years. Victorian Plum Firemist w/matching vinyl top and red leather interior. Purchased from 2nd owner with 49,900 miles, exceptional original paint & interior, near perfect chrome & stainless trim. The original 4.1 V6 & 2004r transmission worked as well as it ever did but that was painfully slow and not that economical.
To make this car a modern cruiser we did a complete mechanical rebuild.
The upper & lower, front & rear control arms were replaced along with tie rods, center link, steering damper, sway bar bushings & links, front hubs/rotors (cross drilled & slotted), calipers & pads, front & rear brake hoses, wheel bearings, rear brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware, emergency brake cables, drive shaft & u joints, all brake & fuel lines and more.
The Cadillac chassis is the same as a 1996 Impala SS so we used an A/C Delco rebuilt SS steering box and clean used SS front & rear sway bars, springs, transmission cross member and rear axle (17,000 mile 3.42 posi-traction).
The engine is a 3000 mile 6.0 L96 from a 2013 Silverado 2500 with an L99 (2013 Camaro, Corvette, Caprice) intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injectors & fuel rail, Holly high mount accessory package, Holly coil covers, Hooker/Holly exhaust manifolds, 2.5 stainless exhaust w/ high flow cats and walker quiet power stainless mufflers.
The transmission is a 3000 mile 4L60e from a 2013 Silverado 1500 with a corvette servo and a shift kit added.
The entire project was professionally done by a shop that specializes in LS conversions and custom tuned by a shop that also specializes in LS vehicles. It looks and drives like a professional job.
The interior is all original including carpets & mats. Everything works as it should including the Automatic Climate Control.
The exterior has the original vinyl top, mostly original paint (some touch-up over the years), new bumper fillers and it all looks & shows very well. The chrome, anodized aluminum and stainless is in excellent condition.
There are a pair of good electric outside mirrors (car has a cable mirror on left and a nonworking but manually adjustable electric mirror on the right), a spare electronic climate control control panel and power module, and a very good red dash pad (the original has a couple of very minor cracks) included with car.
