Description

1978 Cadillac Eldorado BiarritzService records included. 28,000 actual miles. 425 V8 Loaded. Extremely well preserved. New tires 5 years ago and new allum. radiator. Orig. radiator included if wanted. A true survivor.Car runs and drives well. Big Caddy feel. Car could use a good buff wax and cleaning. Typical fadingon the two fiberglass two front fillers. Rear trunk to bumper filler has the typical cracks and fading. Driver's door arm rest has dried out blemish otherwise leather interior is very nice. Could use cleaning and conditioning. 1 ding in drivers door scratch that has been touched up on left rear 1/4 panel. There may be more but calling out what I can see.

Unlike the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and De Ville, which both boasted the opulent d’Elegance luxury package, Eldorado did not offer a similar plush option. This was rectified late in the 1976 model year with the Biarritz (a name last used for the 1964 Eldorado convertible) package. The car featured unique exterior trim and the rear half of the cabriolet roof was covered with a heavily padded landau vinyl top accented with large “opera” lights. The interior featured “pillowed”-style, “tufted” velour or leather seating, with contrasting piping, along with an array of other options available.

For the 1978 Eldorado model year only, 2000 Eldorado Custom Biarritz Classics were produced in Two-Tone Arizona Beige/Demitasse Brown consisting of 1,499 with no Astroroofs or no Sunroofs; 475 with Astroroofs; 25 with Sunroofs and one (1) was produced with a Power Sliding T-Top.[47] Only nine of the latter are known to have been retrofitted by the American Sunroof Company under the direction of General Motors’ Cadillac Motor Car Division.[citation needed]

The Biarritz option stayed with the Eldorado through the 1991 model year and was replaced with the “Touring Coupe” option for the 1992 Eldorado model year.[48] Some of the original styling cues vanished after the 1985 model year, such as the brushed stainless steel roofing (1979-85) and the very plush “pillowed” interior seating designs, but the Biarritz remained unique just the same.
